That's the most upscale egg/nesting box build I've ever seen. Your chickens are going to be brooding in style lol. Thanks for sharing it really turned out great.

Thank you for going over the roofing. I’m at the roofing on my coop and I couldn’t find a simple video to show me how to do it.

Oh thank you so much! That's exactly why I wanted to make the video. Thanks for subscribing too!

Very nice job, glad to see I'm not the only one that over builds and doesn't have all the right tools, but still makes it look good!
@TheArtofDoing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes, I'm still adding tools to my collection but usually AFTER ive needed it for something. Haha, I'm a chronic over builder. Thanks for watching! I hope to hear from you again sometime!

Great video. I appreciate you not editing out the mistakes. I am in the middle of a coop build and have made a few mess ups along the way. I had a plan in my head but it did not work out exactly like the picture in my head. I made a few minor adjustments to make things work, and I am almost finished with it.

Id love to see it when it's done! Thanks for the feedback, sometimes you can learn more from mistakes. Thanks for watching!!!

Guday mate from Down Under. It looks like you need a Router to help you to cut rebates. It's also far safer than a circular saw and much more accurate. I am building an A frame coop about 9 feet wide on all sides. The exterior laying boxes will be similar to yours but connected to the vertical end wall differently. I like the 'A' frame design as it is so very strong in a cyclone and very easy to construct.

Yes, I bought a router after the fact once I knew what I was missing!!! I'm curious how you are going to attach your egg boxes! Thanks for taking the time to comment!!!

Thanks so much Brandon! Im definately not a carpenter and im buying the tools as I go but I'm putting my money where my mouth is with 'trying new things'! I'm trying my best to be a carpenter for this project! Thanks for the support and the kind words!!!

Great video series! Gonna build my wife a chicken coop this year. One suggestion for that odd side shape framing, just build it out of a piece 3/4” plywood. Trace out your shape and cut. No difficult angles. It will be plenty strong enough.

That's a good idea!!! Thanks for watching and have fun with your build!

go inside screw a 4-inch screw in each corner go outside and use a chalk line and make your lines cut hole set your blade to 3/4 of an inch so you don't hit 2x4s

I built my roof to my coop and nails were showing through and I used cork on the nails. However, what should I do with the nails that could potentially show through on the nesting box? I can't really use corks for the nesting box nails. The wood for nesting box lid is about 3/4" thick.
@TheArtofDoing2 жыл бұрын
Good question! My coop roof is so high that it isn't an issue. Im going to go look at my egg box and see how far the egg box roof nails stick through. If you're worried about you or your birds getting poked, you could bend them back over by hammering them sideways or you could cut off the tips. Thanks for stopping by, I love the questions!

Did you put the floor in the coop in this video or a different one?
@TheArtofDoing3 жыл бұрын
The floor went in on the first episode of this build.

Sorry I meant the floor to the nest box. When did you install it? Love your videos and coop! They have been a huge help during our coop build!

That flashing looks awful calk the seam with clear silicone caulk and then put a 1x4 on it Done
@TheArtofDoing3 жыл бұрын
I know!!! The chaulk is definately happening but do you mean put the 1x over the seam where the flashing goes into the coop? I think I like that idea!
