A budget-friendly/less hassle option would be to put up one of those signs that say 'smile you are on camera' and maybe one of those dummy CCTV cameras up high in the trees, it would definitely deter them. Welcome to Ireland!

Happy birthday Bruce!🎉🎉🎉 Coop looks amazing, great work! It'll be good to see some birds fill it up soon. Shame about those pesky fly tippers, incredible it still happens in this day and age. Maybe stick up a couple of signs stating CCTV in operation at the end of your road. They often work better if they look like they've come free with a camera by putting their logo on the sign. Good luck with the hens, they're a great addition. My big advice is to get a treadle feeder (step on a hinged piece to reveal feed) I have one for my birds and it has saved me from rodents and wild birds eating feed. My feed bill is a quarter what it was before I got it. Takes a bit to train the birds but well worth it.

Funny I had ordered one at the same time as the hens. Just put it together and it looks great. They currently don’t want to come out of the coop so just giving them time to settle in. Fly tipping is fairly rife round here unfortunately

Happy birthday Bruce. Love the Chickshaw, Ive made 2 versions myself. Weight was the issue for me as I used a timber frame, and a solid bottom as I was worried the Irish winter was too miserable and cold for the ladies, but my next version will have the wire mesh floor.... always improving..... oh and ABSOLUTELY bigger wheels, and non-inflate ones too, I cheaped out and paid the price for it. Small flat wheels in mud don't roll very far. (There's a song in that!!) Keep up the great work.

I've been using a pair of cheap secateurs for the past 30 years to cut the goat's hooves. If you do it regularly every 6 weeks, it's quite easy (if you don't have arthritic hands). Then again, I'm kind of curious to see what device you'll come up with. And if my hands get any worse, maybe I can call over and borrow it 😊. Happy Birthday Bruce.

We have hoof shears but my idea is to make a climbing obstacle for them but with skateboard grip tape to file down the hoof. I don’t think it will get rid of the work altogether but I’m going to see if it gets me longer between trims

I’d say it will be fine. I have seen other similar designs in hotter climates. They won’t be in there during the day either. I will keep an eye on it though and maybe on the few hot days we get I can prop the roof up to for extra ventilation
