Having watched a bunch of videos on making chicken piccata, this one really hits for me on why you do two versions. Most videos only do one version and it's much harder to parse what's key to the preparation and what's "extra". Getting a solid sense of that makes the whole thing much less difficult to understand.

@@JDarach This is what amateurs don't get. Simple dishes done well are the heart and soul of great cooking. Steakhouses exist because a properly cooked steak, which is a very simple dish, is one of the very best things in the world. Almost every great cuisine can be split into two halves, the rustic simple "peasant" food made simply with simple ingredients and the fussy complicated food of the nobility which was made by professional cooks who had large budgets, staffs and plenty of time to get things done. The most popular food is almost always the peasant side of things. To the point where it can be very hard to even find restaurants that serve the fussy complicated stuff.

No. That is not piccata. Throwing whatever you want into it doesn’t make it that recipe - it just makes it a made-up dish.
@timmaxwell2783Ай бұрын
@@Rapaglia1they use mushrooms for the chicken piccata at Cheesecake Factory and while in some cases adding an ingredient that completely changes a dish on its own like a new protein would be valid for your point adding mushrooms to piccata doesn’t make it a different recipe lol. Chill.
@Rapaglia1Ай бұрын
@@timmaxwell2783 Lol! It does when Chicken Piccata doesn’t have mushrooms. I don’t care how Cheesecake Factory🙄 makes it, because Cheesecake Factory isn’t real Italian. It’s a chain restaurant with an assortment of pseudo-cultural foods. If you’re using Cheesecake Factory as your point of reference for what Chicken Piccata is, then you’ve missed the point entirely. Chicken Piccata literally is chicken cutlets in a butter, white wine, lemon, and caper sauce. Adding mushrooms to it DOES, in fact, make it a dish that is not Chicken Piccata. As a 6th generation Sicilian-born, I think I know what is and what isn’t Chicken Piccata.
