This is part one of my chicken tractor build. I show the basic frame, how I mounted my wheels, tow dolly system and bending conduit for the roof. Check out our Amazon store and help support our channel www.amazon.com...

Pete, I love it! Common sense went into this project. I have been thinking about building a chicken tractor but for meat birds. Like you, I haven't seen anything worthwhile about the build on KZbin since my carpentry skills are very limited. I like the wheels and the easy tow. I know I am jumping ahead of myself but I am thinking of a flat roof because I receive very high winds in Camden, South Carolina. I am looking forward to part 2 before I make my decision.

Thank you, If you have high wind, then you might want to build it like Joel Salatin for your meat birds.

Your builds are all so well thought out and then implemented! Love the beauty and functionality of the finished projects.

Wow, amazing tips and bending performance here, thank you Pete, very good series and very happy chickens will be :)

You're supposed to pull on the bender handle, not on the conduit. You should also use one of your feet to assist in the bending.

That's only for 90 degree bends. Anything under 90 degrees is bent the way I did it.

Looked like Pete's method worked good for him that's all that counts.

By bending as did he, you have much more control/precision over the bend, and less margin for errors . . .Beautiful Work Brother, and is going to be great help for me when I get to the build of our own . . . Thank you for the share, Sincerely. P.s. please forgive my ignorance, bit can I ask the measurements for placing the bending points on the stick? Yours just came out so perfectomungo brother . . .

I built a chicken tractor, not this good, but similar sized and found one issue I would love to see you address. Smaller size means harder to spot pests, in particular chicken mites, before they take over. So I'm thinking designing for full access to every nook and crack for cleaning and pest checking is pretty vital.
@petebeasttexashomesteading5 жыл бұрын
I haven't noticed a mite problem with my chickens but If I do, I would use a plastic bottle with a small hole at the end and puff diatomaceous earth in every nook and cranny and also put it in their sand bath box.

The pipe is supposed to be on the ground and pull on the handle
@petebeasttexashomesteading5 жыл бұрын
That's true only for 90 degree, but for less then 90, you do it the way I did.

Chicken... Tractor??? I mean... I know that they don’t require a license to drive a tractor (unlike a car); but I’m not so sure that letting *chickens* drive one is a good idea... um... 😜
