Vindaloo is an Indian curry dish popular in the region of Goa. It is a combination of vinegar and garlic and is regarded as fiery spicy dish. So watch and learn how to make Chicken Vindaloo at home with chef Varun Inamdar only on Get Curried.
Ingredients
1/2 Kg Chicken on bone
Salt as requires
Vindaloo Masala
2 big onions
15 Kashmiri Chillies
6 Garlic cloves
1″ Ginger
2 tsp Jeera
1 tsp Haldi
1″ piece of Cinnamon
6 Peppers
6 Cloves
Malt Vinegar 1/2 cup
3 cups Water
Method
- Dice some onions and add them into a blender along with it add garlic, ginger, cinnamon sticks, pepper corns, cloves, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, salt and dried red chillies and run it into fine paste.
- Add malt vinegar and run it into a fine paste.
- In a pan add water and let it heat, add chicken pieces and masala and mix it well.
- Cover it with a lid and let it cook for 20 minutes.
- Turn off the flame and let the chicken rest for 15 minutes.
- Chicken Vindaloo is ready to be served.

It is usually made with pork, but can be made with beef, mutton, chicken, or tofu.

Vindaloo was my late friend Greg's favorite Indian dish. Especially chicken. He liked his to use red bell peppers instead of tomato. May he rest in peace.

Chef varun I wud be glad to tell u that I'm into hotel management at don bosco kurla and I always wanted to be a fnb associate but then when I started bulk kitchen in 2nd year and started learning Indian cuisine I felt I can do it ....I started watching ure videos by which I got confident and now I feel to turn away and get into kitchen so I can master Indian kitchen . I cook almost every day and I’ve made probably a hundred pork vindaloos. This was my first go at chicken vindaloo. I’m happy to report that it turned out very well. So much so, that while cooking the chicken vindaloo I made the balti chicken as well. And that too was really good. Now I’m headed to find more chicken recipes on your KZbin page as I still have a whole chicken left :) Thanks. I like your videos. They’re calm and unrushed and beautifully shot.

Hi Bombay Chef. I just made this vindaloo for dinner. Feedback from my family is still awaited. They’ll be surprised to know that this is cooked without a drop of oil. I had to use about five bottle caps of vinegar.

I made this but I don't have anything to crush onions and all . I just put them all in the vessel and used white vinegar . after a beer it taste best nice varun taste like spicy and sour

Would it taste different if you fried the onions and garlic before blending? I find ground, raw onions taste completely different

Regular white vinegar should work fine, cooked on a medium high flame

I thought 'vin' comes from vinha/vinho - meaning wine in portuguese. Indianized version replaced wine with vinegar.

Harpreet Singh basically they use wine vinegar. Thats why both are correct brother. But in authentic recipes they use todi vinegar or sugarcane vinegar
