A tip that I definitely recommend is to get some mineral oil and with a cloth rub some over the whole outer casing as it will help prolong any corrosion

I have the 850 version love the PID controller, rock solid on holding temperature. The 850 doesn’t have the clean out option but all the rest is the same just a little smaller awesome grill so far.
@williamriley25283 жыл бұрын
There's a new update for the firmware for the Pro Series PID controller... 10 degree increments up to 300 & 25 degree increments to 400. As far as chicken safety is concerned it's the internal meat temperature you want to monitor. 165 F for the white meat & 175 F internal for the dark meat. You better take those thighs to 175 F...!

I used to get my wings at a local sports bar, they used to deep fry the wings, then sauce them in a bowl of hot wing sauce. They would then put them under their Salamander Broiler for me for a few minutes... Crispy deliciousness...!

There is a small hole on the left side of the pit just above the sear plate slide bar to run your temp probe through so that you don’t have to pinch it in the door.

Long sleeve sweatshirt with shorts and bare feet. Love your smokin outfit. Cook @ 200 or 250 as long as you like. As long as you finish with a higher heat it won’t matter. I do mine @ 225 for 20 minutes, flip and repeat. Increase to 350 for 20 minutes more, flip and cook 10-20 minutes more depending how crispy you like.

Hey, do you realize there's a port to feed the probe through on the left side of the grill? It's there so you're not closing the lid on the probe wire and the door closes completely. And 265?! Ya making that breast into jerky or leather?
@AnotherOverTaxedTaxPayer2 жыл бұрын
I do now. LOL

I don't think he meant internal temp (IT) of 265. I think he was referring to the cooking temp. I hope!

@@cedricrandle5024 Yeah, I would hope so to. 265 for wings would end up being wing jerky. But then again, I have a Pit Boss 1150 myself and there is NO OPTION for setting the cooking temp at 265. 260...yes 270 yes...but no 265.

You need to open that vent cap up all the way. You're restricting air flow through the pit and since these are forced air induction, you need the vent all the way open with no restrictions.

No problems at all. Yes it's 50 degree increments oh, but I don't mind. If you're having problems with the temperature fluctuation put a gasket on the door

I haven't had any trouble with mine holding at 250. It also does 10 degree increments. I read you can send them the control panel & they will update the firmware for free if yours only does 50 (Pit Boss). Did you see the tiny hole on the side of the barrel for your thermometer? Chicken looks great!

A gasket won’t fix it. I called pitboss and they said it’s a issue with the software. A lot of people are having the same issue. They said there working on a firmware update.

@@chadgommert9967 we are talking about the new 1150, right? How will they update the software, would you please let me know?

They a said they would send me email with more information of when the update will happen. No firm date! They did not say on how they would do the firmware update. I asked for a new control board but they said that would t fix it since it will have the same problem. They said with the new pid the programmed it to not overshoot temperatures. But the other side is the temperature will not get to desired temp between 200-270. All other temps hold perfect on mine. The rep said he has had numerous calls with the Same issue.
