I was little child when I saw this movie in cinema hall, in Bucharest, Romania. After we got out from the movie, when I learned that the armor was so heavy that the fallen horsemen could not rise on their own, I asked my mother: "Why they did not use armor made of aluminum? It is not so heavy! " My mother answered: "Because the aluminum is softer than steel, it cannot withstand blows." Fun fact: Aluminum alloys got available only 450 years after the Battle of Grunwald/Tannenberg.

Communism, nazism and today globalism. Poles have always displayed strenght of character though, always fighting and even surviving years behind the Iron Curtain and coming out of it as winners and remaining sane. Today in many ways Poland has things much better than much of the so called Western Europe. Far less forced third world immigration = less crime and unrest affecting ordinary people. Wow!! What a scene! Can't believe it was shot in 1960! There's nothing like real horses, actors, landscapes to make a movie feel real and convey real emotions to spectators. Today, it's all about special effects... We don't make movies like these anymore. It's great to see these knights from two European kingdoms. But today, unlike what is portrayed in this historical movie, and instead of bickering against one another, it's more than ever the right time to unite.

Ironic because Duke Conrad of mazovia tried to convert the fierce pagan Prussians to Christianity but failed. So he persuaded the Teutonic knights to do so. They succeeded and in return the knights order was granted rights to settle on the Prussian lands that they conquered. This however, would not become a long lasting love affair for two centuries later it would result in the battle of grunwald making it one of the most important battles in European history. Ithe battle lasted forr ten hours and when it was over, the Teutonic knights order was so decimated that it's it's military aggression ceased permanently. Why was the battle of grunwald so important? It permantely ended German expansionism into Slavic territory. The Teutonic knights would still go on to exist, but it would never regain it's strength again until finally being abolished by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809.

The deep voice of Polish warriors while they were singing Bogurodzica made their enemies threatend to death. This song was supposed to scare the rival.

@@stefankisiel3937 the song was sung before the battle and it was supposed to encourage the knights rather to scare enemy. They knew the battle might not end well so relying on Holy Mary might be a smart move. And with the distance - approx 200m the enemy rather could not hear the song. Nor understand text.

It was used few times in most imprtant. Battles..last time in 1996 when Polish rally driver Krzysztof Holowczyc fought with german Dieter Depping for Rally championship of Europe during Rally Poland. 100.000 rally fans from Poland singed it on last stage . Holowczyc won by few seconds and won ERC title.

Ironically, actors who played King of Poland Władysław Jagiełło and Grand Master of Teutonic Order Ulrich von Jungingen were both born to Polish families on the territory of former Grand Duchy of Lithuania: Stanisław Jasiukiewicz (Grand Master) was born in Postawy (now Pastavy, Belarus), while Emil Karewicz (the King) was born in Wilno (now capital of Lithuania). Karewicz died in 2020 at the age of 97, while Jasiukiewicz died in 1973 at 52. Both were acting legends in their own right.

What's interesting minority of their ancestors still live in Poland and despite of muslim religion they fully assimilated in Poland and Poles respect them! Poles would defend them as a loyal minority, fully assimilated, if needed. Yes, Turkey and islamists would like to radicalize them, but we - I hope - succesffuly will protect them against islamisation - jihad we can observe now on the west of Poland also in Scandinavian countries.
