Hey there lady. I just picked up this part at Auto Zone. Your video is about to save me $600 at the dealership. Thanks!

Just completed this same job today, using your video as a guide. For anyone interested, if you don't mind working in tight spaces, you do not have to remove the two bars discussed that are holding the black panel to the door frame. You can slide the new regulator in behind the panel and hold it in place while securing it with bolts. This cut quite a bit of time off the job!
@Surviving43112 жыл бұрын
This is why I search the comments after I watch a how to video! Always someone who has done it better. Thank you so much for sharing and because I didn’t have to remove the bars this job took me 2 hour to complete to the average 3-4 hours people are reporting. Thank you again!

Yours was the most helpful video to complete this job. Thanks so much! The mention of taking a picture before disconnecting would’ve been awesome before I got started, but your info that the electric connectors each only fit in one spot was perfect for peace of mind.

Now try doing this 9 hours away from home in a hotel parking lot like I did last night (With a cheap tool box from Walmart). I ended up taping the window in place and removing the regulator. I'll fix it when I get home. Thanks for the video. It helped tremendously.

Thanks so much. I especially benefitted from the amazing camera shots of the door handle rods/clips at 6:15 in the video. When reassembling, the clarity of that photography allowed me to understand exactly what I need to do in placing the rods and pivoting the clips, so it wasn't too bad. I also benefitted from watching you release the glass from the old regulator clips. Seeing how it worked in your video gave me the confidence needed to press hard enough with a small screwdriver, and low and behold, it worked. My wife did have to push down on the main body of the plastic piece on the left side one while I pushed with the screwdriver - but the right side one released just with the small screwdriver push. Great video !

Great job ! Ran across your KZbin channel, and being an auto mechanic since the 70's, I got interested. Very impressive and I know this because just last week had to replace the door latch in a 2016 Charger... very same process. Your tip about the pics... perfect, I've been doing that for years since the digital cameras and phones came out, I have a pretty good library of them. Oh one more thing, had to look at our labor guide we use.. and it pays 1.1 hours to replace regulator, but think of the hours of fun you had.. I think they call it Priceless!!! Again enjoyed it and you did a great job

Thank you for an actual full video explaining things thoroughly! Most vids I've found for fixing things say take part off then skip to things disassembled without showing it being taken apart or back together and it's so annoying!

Thank you for the kind words! I figure it doesn't really help people if you don't actually show them how to do it. Editing all that together can be painstaking for sure, but it's worth it.

@johndough232 жыл бұрын
That's intentional... They don't want people fixing this themselves. The reason you had trouble is you probably needed a special TOOL only their mechanics own. I had the exact same handle issue with a 1999 Voyager van on fixing the same window issue.

We recently bought a 2015 Dodge Caravan from a Dealer. They included at no additional charge, a 3 month, 4000 mile, Bumper to Bumper warranty. The Drivers Window regulator went out a few weeks later. They replaced it but the technician didn't know about the reset procedure, so we picked up the van with the window not operating correctly with the understanding that they would have to send it to a Dodge dealer for them to finish fixing it. I checked a few replacement videos and none showed the reset procedure but I kept looking and finally found it on Google. Turns out it was a standard procedure to reset most cars with Auto power window switches. Fixed it in 10 seconds. I've replaced 5 regulators in other vehicles but never had to reset any. I printed out the procedure and went back to the dealer to let them know I had fixed the problem. Their tech had worked on it after replacing the regulator for another 2 hours before giving up. I guess the tech doesn't know about Google!

Easier way to do it unless it's different I got a 2011 Town and Country and I didn't have to remove that black panel I just opened it up loosen the bolts that was holding the regulator open up the motor and those things fell out and I replace it on top without removing you open it enough to get the old ones in and out but you don't have to take apart the whole black door panel
@frankL100773 жыл бұрын
On 2012 you have to take off that panel. Yours is obviously different, and yes much easier. ChickFix is much harder. Reminds me never to buy this model.

The window in my daughters van is all the way down. Not sure how that’s going to work out when I go to fix it. No videos show the window all the way down so hopefully won’t be too bad to figure out.
@johndough232 жыл бұрын
Carefully pull it up yourself. Then find a scrap of wood to hold it up. Measure, cut and prop. This will secure the window from thieves and weather. After that, work to sell the POS as fast as you can. The entire truck is about to fall apart.

You, my dear, are such a badass. And as always, my Shero! There are a lot of things you teach us that I know I can accomplish. This one makes me want to drink. You are super impressive. How long did it actually take you to do?
@ChickFixUSA4 жыл бұрын
Ha! It made me want to drink too. In total, probably 5-6 hours, but that's because filming makes everything take twice as long. It's probably a 2-3 hour job. Theoretically, it should be straightforward, but there's always little hiccups that you get stuck on

I second @AS-Iv8if said. Even experienced mechanic(s) will need a 2nd helper to help guide certain car parts (glass, cables), to make sure that aligns correctly. Has nothing to do with gender (she or he).
