You didnt ask…but just for shits n gigs for the onions: whenever you use that stainless steel pot, heat to 5 instead of 7. Let the pot heat up and then put oil and let that warm up for a couple seconds. Then the onions, they’ll cook nicely and won’t burn at all. Also thank you for the psa about safe food handling because there are so many people who don’t know how unsafe that is. Carrot skin gang REPRESENT

i legit like the apron look. i do more or less live by the ethos that you can’t have too much salt (one of my schoolmates was recently… intrigued to see me add salt to my pancakes) yams and sweet potatoes are not the same, but also language is pliable and many people use yam regionally to mean sweet potato and, like, who am i, a tuber cop?

After watching this video I went on craving the stew for daaays. Its my first time making something like this but my friend needed some maximum comfort so I thought it would be perfect. We called it the Peasant Stew and it was SO yummy!!! I followed your version of the recipe pretty close- only I used veggie broth and plant-based meat for my vegetarian friend. With some rosemary bread on the side it was the perfect hardy soul-food meal to have while we all got cozy for movie night. Thanks Charles! I legit finally just finished The Secret History minutes before this video came out, so perfect timing. My thoughts about it are confusing. I definitely didn’t hate it. I really liked the beginning and ending (especially the very last scene), but the middle kinda lost me a bit. I felt like any weird happenings (which I thought would be a lot more of what the book was) got explained very early on in the book and then I felt like the whole middle was just people talking. I also really liked the part that followed Richard and his miserable time spent between semesters. That was very well done. In short, I did like the book and I’m glad I finally read it. Donna Tartt is a very talented writer and I would pick up another one of her books for sure. I think I’m going to go for The Da Vinci Code next. I’ve never read a Dan Brown before. Also, the soup/stew looks good🙌🏻
