Once the Bread had broken up because of the liquid and the heat, the Stew was almost ready. Keep an eye open and in a few minutes the bread begins to thicken the stew. Stir gently and serve. Excellent simple recipe, excellent Mojado … and as one comment suggested, with a bit of extra almonds (or almond flour), top! One thing only - I’m surprised NO-ONE commented as to use traditional, dried garbanzo, an inexpensive and much tastier alternative to any can. I understand you have to make the recipe simple, when people hear that you have to soak garbanzos overnight for the dish, many will give up… But in fact, it’s easy and not at all difficult,,,, just a little planing and prep….Just soak dried garbanzos the night before, drain in the morning, and put to cook with some salt and double the water….. when it boils, scoop the froth from the top and discard. let it boil on medium flame for some 30-50 minutes (actual time depends on the freshness of garbanzo…. If they have been dried out a long time will need more, while fresh ones need half the time). When garbanzo are half cooked, proceed sautéing the vegetable part of the recipe and potato. when the veg are sautéed half way thru, just add the garbanzo and proceed with this delicious recipe as explained. ¡Buen provecho!

Great comment ,i was looking for the time of cooking those dry garbanzo.
@patriciapatricia90403 жыл бұрын
Tirpitz you can cook dry garbanzos, or any type of dried beans without soaking in just an hour if you have an instant pot. Rinse the beans and add appropriate amount of water. I usually use 2 cups dried beans and 8 cups of water. Use the beans setting and turn the keep warm setting off. Let the steam release on its own. During that time the beans will continue to simmer. One hour = perfect beans every time. You can then use in any recipe just like you would canned beans only the flavor is so much better. I’ve cooked dried beans for years but getting the instant pot was a game changer.
@tirpitz193 жыл бұрын
@@patriciapatricia9040 I don't have an instant pot.
@i.w.67983 жыл бұрын
@@patriciapatricia9040 HI dear, thanks for your comment. Of course you can always cook it in an express pot, with satisfactory results- if you are pressed for time. Since our Family lives in the mediterránean village house, we are not pressed for time, thanks God. Why is it better to cook it the way I have explained? For a simple reason, that you get better, finer final result - and more importantly - with less gasses afterwards. So, you soak the beans (same rule applies for ANY beans), the night before. And then you throw the water away. And cook them in new water, first thing in the morning the next day, till it boils. Then you throw all the water away, again. And then you put them in the new fresh water, and cook again. If there is any foam to scoop, you do it. Any then, in this THIRD Water, you cook your beans to the end.... And you have almost no gases afterwards, and softer, more refined taste of your beans. This is how my grandmother, and my mother, always did it.

@@i.w.6798 I adore my Instant Pot, but presoak to cut electricity consumption to 1/3 that of the all-at-once method - great for our planet, great for the power bills. 8-10 hours later, that tiny effort means the chickpeas will cook in 15-20 minutes. I dump the soak water but skim/retain the _'aqua faba'_ (cook water) as a tasty vegan resource. The 60 minutes method is a boon for emergencies, though.

I was thinking the same thing. For a recipe that mentioned nothing about meat, this really looks delicious, I like the healthy spin. Gonna have to try this.

Hello Albert, I love your recipes, especially when you make things that are vegetarian and/or vegan, or can easily be adapted to being one or the other. I have never been to Spain, but I really like the idea that what you cook is both healthy and low cost, esspecially as many of us have to count our pennies. Thank you!

I had been making garbanzos for a while and while they ended up tasting good the “broth” always turned out watery and I always wondered how to get it thick. Then I did your egg bread mix and it worked! Many thanks ❤

I have stepped away from my usual Punjabi cuisine to make several of Albert’s recipes over the last few weeks. This was the best so far. There is so much depth of flavour in this simple dish. Spanish cuisine is clearly something to be proud of. Thank you Albert for sharing this with us.

03/01/22 This is superb, Albert. I ran across this recipe this morning and knew I needed to make it ASAP. I am a garbanzo bean lover. I had to pressure cook my garbanzo beans so it took a little longer for me to make. I had everything except the red pepper. I left it out. Your thickener is exceptional. The egg took it over the top. I even grated my tomatoes like you did. What a treat this stew is. 💖 I knew I'd love it when I saw your video and I do love it and you. 🤗Thank you so much. This recipe is outstanding.

Just made it. Damn, this is good and so easy to make. Didn't have a mortar and pestle so I used a round spice jar to smash the egg, bread and garlic. Worked just fine. One of the best things I've eaten.
