Chief Justice Raymond Zondo hangs up his robe at the end of August 2024

South Africa is a country of possibilities, it's a country where a boy from the village would become the Chief Justice.
These are the words of outgoing Chief Justice Raymond Zondo as he reflects on his role as Chief Justice.
Zondo was speaking at a special ceremonial sitting to honour him as he retires from his position.
Justice Zondo will be succeed by his deputy Deputy Chief Justice Mandisa Maya.
In his final speech Zondo also acknowledged the role of former Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.
He thanked all South African Presidents for appointing him to a particular position during their tenure.
Zondo will retire at the end of August.
