Thanks for this video!!!!! I had no clue the lower air dam was removable...I was easily able to remove it sliding into a snow mound during a storm. While looking up replacement parts and what I need to do I was ecstatic to find out it was easily replaceable. That said i took it one step further, found your video and figured, why not reinforce.

What grade bolt is that shorter bolt in the tow hook? For safety it really should be at least a grade 8 or better.

@@ProdigalOverland Good cause I was looking and those were so not grade 8s and I was thinking of catastrophic failure if you had to use those hooks for a real recovery. Structural integrity is key on those points.

Looking at getting one myself, just have to see what all the previous people did first since it currently has a currently unknown brand lower front fascia guard and bull bar. But previous owner partially ripped off the plastic cover for windshield wiper fluid bottle

I wonder how the rust proofing of chief products stuff is. As in, how's it going to look after 10 Wisc winters? I keep vehicles. I've seen a lot of aftermarket step rails for pickups that rust almost immediately while all the OEM metal is fine.

Good question! So I had a hard time getting all of the plastic trim. I was able to do the install all the same. So no it didn’t affect the installation. However, I have since removed the pieces. Because I had to take the front end off when I did the hidden winch mount. I could still see some of the plastic after I was done with the installation. So it wasn’t a very clean look. Some folks got in there using a small socket wrench. Hope that helps. Good luck

Were u able to easily re-tighten the 30mm OEM tow hook nuts once the OEM plastic sump shield was re-installed? Just trying to figure out how to get access to the nuts again before I re-install the plastic shield. Looks like I may be able to get to one thru the oil filter opening in the shield. Thx!

Can you reinstall the tow hooks before putting the guard on so you don't have to cut the bolt for the tow hook?

I don’t think that would work. It’s the chassis bracket that is blocking it as well as the front center section. I found it much easier to buy the shorter bolt. Again I didn’t have the tools to easily cut the bolt.

So. I just threw out my lower front fascia. But you are correct, with the fascia on there is no change in approach angle.

A lot of people will just take off the front fascia when they go offroading and then put it back on when city driving. The whole process takes 5 minutes.

It goes back on the way it came off. It will fit over the guard. But no we didn't put it back on. I trashed it. I didn't want to deal with the on and off every time we go out off road.
