LeBron is clutch but here are the reasons there is a narrative around him not being clutch: 1) MJ is the GOAT - he was known for taking jumpshots - his highlights are played over and over so people have a sentimental feeling about it. LeBron makes the right play, either he takes a jumpshot, a layup, or passes to the open man. A layup is not sexy as MJ's jumpshot but if it wins the game it wins the game. The playoff stats now show LeBron has more game winning shots than MJ. So from visuals people have a bias, but in actual plays and stats, LeBron is on par. 2) LeBron is in the social media era so his faults as a player can be emphasized and video clipped together by people who hate him. MJ and Kobe didn't experience this, Kobe a little towards end of his career. LBJ is the most scrutinized player ever. He is also breaking the mold people love which is MJ and Kobe. He does it all on the court, only true basketball fans understand the impact of what he does on the court, casual fans see a sexy jumper from MJ and Kobe and think thats what makes them the best. 3) Hyperbole Sports Talk - Skip Bayless started this, on a daily and weekly basis he talks about Lebron and unfairly criticizes him - not saying he can't criticize him - but he nit picks and is not fair in comparisons. MJ and Kobe had faults, but there was no large scale coverage like this when they played.Kobe got a bit of it, but LeBron more 4) The Decision - People still hold hate over the decision tv special, which was of course a bad idea on LeBron's part.

He has clutch plays on the defensive end as well. I am a big MJ fan, but this man is a better player. It ain't hard to see.

4midable4ce you're speaking blasphemy...MJ recored 200 steals and 100 blocks in one season. LeBron definitely had some clutch plays on def. but he doesn't play that much defense...

Look at how many of these they were down 1 or 2. When it's tied, not as much on the line. Still have overtime. That's what is so clutch about it. This man has the most game winners in history, playoffs included. Who do you want taking the last shot? I'll take the guy that's made more than anyone, in regular season or in playoffs when it matters most

High School LBJ . You would think for a guy that’s been criticized for supposedly not being clutch enough that they would keep track of all his game winners, but this one and even the one on the bobcats like a few games before this one went unaccounted for , how in the hell does that happen ?

That man brought so many amazing moments and left us with some amazing memories in Cleveland. Obviously "The Decision" was a bad move, but thank God he came back and fixed his legacy here. I'll forever be grateful for giving us the best era of Cavaliers basketball ever. Even though he went to LA, he's still mostly loved in Cleveland because he made good on his promise and brought this championship starved city a title
@sternxsaturn3 жыл бұрын
i don’t think the decision was a bad thing. cavs front office was just so horrible
@ChalkInTheLand3 жыл бұрын
@@sternxsaturn I'm talking about how LeBron did it on ESPN and all that. Im noy talking about him leaving. In hindsight I can't blame him. The best the Cavs could do in getting him some help was overpaying an eternally injured Larry Hughes who just happened to have a career year the season his contract expired, signing roleplayers like Donyell Marshall and Amon Ones (No D, no J) and hoping they can miraculously morph into all-stars, foolishly thinking players like Sasha Pavlovic, Drew Gooden, Daniel Gibson and JJ Hickson were the players needed to win a title, and thinking an aging Shaq could be the man in the middle that could stop Dwight Howard. And who could forget the day we acquired Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith, Ben Wallace and Delonte West. Now I'll give the Cavs a little credit Antwan Jamison and Mo Williams were nice pickups. Big Z will always be loved in Cleveland. So there were a few moves that were actually good. But that wasn't enough to beat Pierce, Allen and Garnett in Boston, or The Magic with a prime Dwight Howard. And its never been officially confirmed but there were a ton of reports about the Cavs refusing to include JJ Hickson in a deal with Phoenix to acquire still dominant Amare Stoudemire. They had to settle for Antwan Jamison. I'll admit that at the time of all these moves I was excited. I genuinely thought Cleveland could win a title. But LeBron had to carry the team constantly. The fact is elite free agents weren't going to sign with Cleveland. LeBron knew that. Cleveland was banking on guys thinking playing with LeBron James was enough for them to pass up cities like LA and Miami. I wasn't one of the people crying about LeBron abandoning us. He wanted to win rings. I just take issue with sitting down with Jim Gray on national television and embarrassing the city like he did. Sorry for the long-winded response
