May 31, 2007 - Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James finished with 48 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals in leading his team to a 109-107 double overtime win over the Detroit Pistons in Game 5 of the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals.
Among the first legendary performances of his career, James' scored his team's final 25 points and 29 of their last 30, connecting on masterful drifting 3-pointers, step-back faders, and raucous tomahawk dunks.
While James appeared immune to any and all defensive pressure during his final run, it may be worth noting that the 2007 Pistons did not feature Ben Wallace, who'd signed with the Chicago Bulls prior to the season. In addition, Antonio McDyess was ejected in the first half of Game 5 for a flagrant foul on Anderson Varejao.
The win gave the Cavs a 3-2 series lead heading home to Cleveland for Game 6. There, James was unable to recreate the magic of Game 5, shooting just 3-of-11 from the field (and 14-of-19 from the free throw line). But James' presence freed up opportunities for teammates to shine, as was the case for Boobie Gibson, who finished with 31 points off the bench, connecting on all five of his 3-point attempts in a 98-82 series-clinching win.
