Have to disagree with you a bit on DJ Humphrey.... the main point being if he's in there you can then run the ball more effectively with thuney at LG. Chip with Carson Steele or even JuJu. You're correct. Thuney at LT has been serviceable but why risk injury on playing JT out of position?

This game is not going to be a walk in the park. 3 wins and we get the 3peat. It's going to be the most difficult 3 wins in the history of this franchise. The texans played us very well in our last matchup. The key for KC to move on to the AFC championship is to limit negative plays, limit self inflicted mistakes, don't let Houston ever feel like they have a chance in this game. If we play sound, fundamental football, we will be in a position to win.

So, Seth Keysor of KCSN, and was one of the originals of Arrowhead Attic, had a great write-up, and talked about the O-line on the podcast. While it is true that Thuney has been solid playing LT, the offense has been condensed to compensate for his limitations. I.E., all of the quick, short to intermediate passing game. The ball is coming out of Mahomes' hands faster than any other time in his career. In Seth's article and podcast, he spoke about going through every snap of Thuney's and Caliendo's since the switch. And again, it is true that Thuney has played good for being a LG playing LT. But Caliedo has not been good. We see that in the drop-off in our ability to run the ball. The only reason Caliendo hasn't been exposed is due to game planning to get the ball out really quick. So, Thuney is not the reason to make the swith to DJ at LT and Thuney back at LG, it's Caliendo. The upside of DJ and Thuney is much higher than the other way around. Not to mention, it's not like the switch can't be made back to Thuney and Caliendo if DJ just can't cut it, and it can be done at any time during the game. It's a nobrainer. The ceiling of having an all-pro LG and an average LT is way better than having an average LT and a below average LG. Our offense has the potential to open up like we haven't seen since the 21-22 season.

@AllChiefdUp Well, I definitely agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I definitely appreciate you guys for yours. Even if we don't agree here. My answer to your objection is that there really isn't any risk. If you start DJ and it becomes clear, he just isn't cutting it. You pull him and go right back to what you have now. But, the benefits could be an offense better than what we've had in the last two seasons. Yes, we have game planed really well around our issues on the O-line. But, the possibility to have that and a legitimate opportunity to push the ball down field would give this offense electricity that no other team can hang with. It would also take pressure off of our defense.

I understand the argument against Humphries but the argument for him is Thuney gives you average LT play but moving him out of Guard also moves your Guard play to below average instead of elite. He's also been playing a scheme that has given him help on the edges and has focused on quick passes. If you move Humphries in, you probably go to slightly below average LT play and bump the Guard play up to Elite. You also then improve your run ability as well. I'm not really sure what the right answer actually is here but I understand the argument to move him in. At the end of the day, how is Mahomes most comfortable? Do that.

This is spot on. If Andy Reid, Andy Heck and Matt Nagy scheme to give Humphries the same help that they have been to Thuney, Chiefs finally score more than 30 pts. This would be due to a return to better run game dynamics that have been missing ever since Thuney moved to LT. Caliendo has been below average. If they keep Thuney at LT, I'd almost rather see them give Kingsley or Wanya a shot at LG.

Brothers, you guys are talking as if you make the switch to DJ and Thuney that it is set in stone. It's like you guys are saying if we start DJ at LT, it could be a disaster, and there is nothing we could do about in the game, and we are stuck with it. But that isn't the case whatsoever. We can make the change back to what we have now at any time. Just please check out Seth Keysor's article or on his podcast. He has a really good breakdown of the O-line.

@AllChiefdUp I understand where you are coming from, but the potential upside to me is worth it. In the Seth Keysor breakdown, I mentioned. He went through every snap of Thuney and Caliendo in the current combo. And Caliendo has been bad, not good, or even average, but bad. But his poor play and Thuney's average LT play has been masked by the game plan. We have been getting the ball out of Mahomes' hand, really quick. In fact, he has gotten the ball out faster than any other time in his career. But, this also really limits and condenses the playbook. So, the potential to be able to really open up that playbook and therefore the offense is worth it to me. Especially when you consider that if DJ is just crapping the bed, you can revert right back to what we have now. So, the risk, in my opinion, is absolutely worth it. Especially since Mahomes is as mobile and as elusive as he is in the pocket. Mahomes can mask bad to mediocre tackle play better than anyone in the league. But, he struggles with interior pressure. It just makes sense to give the best possible option a chance, especially with the ability to revert right back to what we have.

Saquan Barkley should be the MVP. But it's a QB award. So understanding that, you have to give it to Lamar Jackson. You can't have fatigue because someone has been dominating the position. @deanbalzer993 *Superior regular season stats this year. Burrow beat Mahomes in the playoffs, exactly once (2021 AFCCG). Chiefs then beat him in the following year's AFCCG. Bungles haven't been back to the playoffs since then and haven't beaten the Chiefs since then, either. But I do believe Burrow might be a perennial MVP candidate if he could ever manage to stay healthy and the Bungles didn't start so slowly every year.
