Correct. Jokes aside, these are the facts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 40+ million copies sold Stardew Valley - 20+ million copies sold Stardew Valley was created by one person too. So naturally, there IS a big, and UNKNOWN, market for this / these type of games.

@@meriotroid I'm still half expecting TotK to be a console launch and Pikmin 4 is relatively niche all things considered and has no launch window. Fire Emblem Engage is the only main draw here and if the leaks are to be believed, that game has been done for quite some time and was just letting 3 Hopes take the spotlight. While it seems there's big stuff here, it's not really that big.

@@Shmeve0 Switch came out March 2017. It is September 2022. More than 5 years. Average console lifespan is 6-7 years. Given how fucking slow Nintendo is developing these unfinished games, it would make perfect sense to withhold Switch games for the next console, just like Wii U had for the switch, just like Gamecube had for the wii. Luigi's Mansion 3, Odyssey, BotW were all Wii U games held off from the Wii U or just took too long so they released exclusively/additionally for Switch. There were probably other games too.

I kinda get the feeling we didn’t get Gameboy/GBA games this time because negotiations are still going on with the Pokémon company to have the original games on the service when they launch. It’d be a pretty glaring omission not to have them there and the announcement of those systems being added won’t really make a splash without them (sure Gameboy and GBA have good games, but none of them have the same pedigree as Pokémon). Not to mention the Pokémon Company appears to be rather stingy about rereleasing the main series games. I remember the Gen 1 games being noticeably more expensive than most Gameboy games on the 3DS virtual console.

DUDE! They could have just released that on its own. No need to go through a whole, pretty boring, Direct just to see a trailer with no presentation. AND WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE CLOUD GAMING!!!??? GOD! They'll keep adding those if people keep paying for them, I guess. "Why fix what's not broke" sort of sense there.

My friend and I aren't fans of farming sims. We recognize there is a big audience for that type of game. All the same, we were laughing our butts off at the number of these kind of games announced. Clearly it wasn't balanced as far as having other genres in the mix as it seemed at least 60% of all games announced were these farming simulators.

I never expected you wanted a labo update that surprised me. BTW the farming games I think they showed were 7 (I think I could be wrong there correct me). But still octopath traveler 2 (which I didn't expect at all) please play the first one if you are a jrpg fan! Kirbys Return to Dreamland (which I never played before), fire emblem engage, Pikmin 4, Bayonetta 3, fatal frame 4, Tales of Symphonia remaster and of course Zelda tears of the kingdom which finally got a release date and a proper title. Yes I agree that farming sims are not people thing including myself, but I love jrpgs a LOT! So overall it was good solid direct and I enjoyed it 8/10! My wallet is gone man! 😂

About the goldeneye rereleased on NSO and Xbox. Nintendo were the one's get the rights back because on last December Nintendo got goldeneye unbanned in Germany and they were talking to MGM and Eon production along with Microsoft about getting goldeneye rereleased to Switch and xbone/ series system's. It took awhile to reveal because it was planned on being reveal earlier but because of whole current war's started, so they hold it off for awhile. I believe for pikmin 4 it took so long to be revealed with a released window, I read About they restarted development in 2019 because I guess they have problems with the engine.

The execution made this Direct unenjoyable. They would tease things like two tracks from Wave 3 of Booster Course Pass. And Wave 2 just came out. Then there's teasing Pikmin 4 after minutes of filler on a stupid mobile game no one wants to play. Then there's teasing more Zelda with TOTK. That was a weak closure even for a Nintendo Direct. I honestly wasn't expecting WWHD/TPHD. With that said, this was the last possible time for them to release them. We likely won't see them until 2024 or later. I was expecting GB/GBC/GBA games on NSO. It's hard to get excited for Stadium 1&2 when you remember you'll only have Rental Pokémon. I can only imagine the Transfer Pack and GB Tower (an emulator within an emulator) would be an emulation nightmare. Kirby RTDDX is hard to get excited for. I'd rather buy Star Allies or Forgotten Land before getting a remake of a game I already own. The outlines are weird. It makes me think of Smash 3DS and I'm wondering if HAL added that because of handheld/tabletop mode. It's odd they remade the graphics since I think the original game's visuals aged gracefully.

I am excited about pikmin 4, that about it. Fire emblem 3 house was a pretty big disapointment for me but I am hopeful that this new one will be good. The mc is super ugly though lol. I have never really been a fan of any of the 3d zelda games including breath of the wild, so I never had any plans to pick up this new one. I also was pretty disapointed with octopath traveler but that was mostly narative disapointment so I am willing to give this second one a try if it has the same great gameplay. The farming game I am most excited for is the rune factory 3 switch release, I probably wont get any of those other farming games.

Agree with everything you’re saying here. The show had ups and downs. The main character of Fire Emblem Engage (terrible name) is headache-inducing to look at. Everything else I felt was safe and predictable; JRPGs galore (who has the time and the patience for all these?) and the number of farming games was ridiculous. The highlights were clearly Pikmin 4 and Zelda. Their last entries were the best games on Wii U. But the lack of deep-cuts other than Pikmin was yet another letdown. Nintendo is sitting on a crazy amount of IP that they are not taking advantage of. There is so much good will towards series like Star Fox, Wave Rave, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, Kid Icarus and many others. This will dissipate in time if these series are not refreshed and released anew.

It’s not “fusing characters” it’s using the classic “nostalgia characters” from the older games as Personas you summon like equipment. Back in the day we had a very incredible thing called the Virtual Console do you know what the response to it was? No I don't mean what insulated kiddies who knew nothing about what was going on outside their bubble thought, I mean what critics, journalists and influencers were saying? Everyone and their mother was bashing it left and right, just like how everyone did nothing but bash the Wii U everyone did nothing but bash the Virtual Console. I actually remember because I was there. I actually loved it and showed support but unfortunately I was in a small minority. Some of the narratives journalists and influencers we're pushing was that the games were too expensive (they were not), they were sick of Nintendo making them buy the same games over and over again (no one was making anyone buy anything over and over again) and, here's the best one, that they would rather have a subscription and get everything through that. See how knowing a little recent history can give so much context to the current situation, do you get that? Well Nintendo listened and in my opinion they over corrected from a problem that was never there. So you can thank ignorant journalists, critics and worst of all influencers for why we are where we are. Hopefully with the next system Nintendo can combine the VC and NSO and make an actually course correction to the better set up they had before.

For the pokemon stadium games on nso. Maybe you can use pokemon home( basically the switch version of pokemon bank on 3ds) to transfer compatible pokemon to the N64 games. Just some theory I made. Also good video as always. Edit: nevermind

Ok, this is my unpopular opinion. My opinion is that HD 2D game don't look that great. Which is part of the reason why I haven't played octopath traveller. because who wants to look at a game that they don't like the look of for 20+ hours. I'm not going to go around telling people who like the art style that there wrong, but I personally don't like the art style. (I'm not trying to sound hateful, I'm just voicing my opinion)
