Hey everyone! Hope this helps. I'll be here responding to comments / questions if you have any. Also, what would you like to know about ADHD for your children? Just let me know using the form here (more in depth): forms.gle/GsfkJYgRZe295cod9 or in the comments below. I'll compile the most popular answers and start making them from there 🙂

Excellent Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you considered - Trentvorty Kids Science Theorem (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great one of a kind guide for training your child for success without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my close friend Aubrey at last got astronomical success with it.

Can you distinguish between Behavior Therapy and Parent Training? The evidence based treatment for ADHD is med management and (parent) behavior training, where the parent is the identified patient. Parents often get confused and think that the child is going in for behavior training. So many parents are unintentionally mislead to talk therapy for their children, office-based social skills classes, and other therapies for the child, which research shows do not help kids with ADHD.

The pandemic has ruined so many children lives. My daughter spent an entire year from 4-5. In isolation. As an only child , she had no contact with other children. It delayed her speech, it delayed her relationship skills,and her school is horrible. The teachers bully her and the kids bully her as she does not understand normal kid interactions. The kids tease her trick her, make fun of her ,and then when she gets angry and lash out, she gets punished. She has become sad, withdrawn, does not speak, does not make eye contact, cannot focus , cannot answer questions. She cannot do her school work and has no short term memory...I hope that done of these techniques Will help

What I need is videos with this therapy. I want to learn it MYSELF to apply to MY child. I am NOT paying some random stranger to change my child to their own views. Why doesn't anyone share the techniques. WHY must it always be about money?!

That’s like asking a doctor to show you how to treat your kids illness at home. Some things can be managed without a paid specialist other things are so acute that it must come to the specialist first to get it down to a level that can be managed at home.

Great info, although you may want to edit that only psychologists do PCIT as I am a mental health practitioner/social worker and we do this all the time. Also psychologists can do therapy, but a lot of them are focused on research, assessment or short term therapy. This is a common misconception.

I have a 2.5 year old and he has not been diagnosed with anything but since I have been watching him a lot more at home during the pandemic, I have noticed behavior that is concerning. I will bring it up to his physician, but this was interesting to hear of some treatments. I already know that we need help of some kind and will probably seek training regardless of a diagnosis. Thanks!

Being a parent of 7 for 25 yrs, the only problem I have found with counseling or therapy, no matter the field, is that the counselor or therapist is a human being like the rest of us, that decide based on their individual opinion and experience how to apply what they've studied. From my experience, a VERY high percentage of "professionals" in these positions are financially backed by pharmaceutical companies to the extent that it guides their diagnoses and/or treatment plans. Who benefits in that situation? Get to know personally who your child/children are being mentally or emotionally guided by. A degree from a university on the subject doesn't make someone trustworthy. Just keep in mind, all human beings are capable of deceit for personal gain, and there's only 1 childhood to be experienced for your child.

Not true. You are deliberately being dishonest in stating counselors are financially backed by pharmaceutical companies, and you know it.

As a counsellor-in-training, it is sad to read this type of opinion. In addition, I will have a masters degree in counselling, which does NOT allow me to formally diagnose clients, nor provide them with prescriptions. I am only going into counselling to work myself out of a job by teaching people how to become their own counsellor (I also will not be counselling children, and adults are fully capable of deciding what they want to do with the advice they are provided with). Btw, I've been a parent to four (would be seven, but I had three miscarriages) children for 18 years, and being a parent does not mean knowing everything, because we are still human.

How many professionals have you worked with? Is this a representative sample size of all providers? Are we talking psychiatrists, counselors, therapists? What is your source for stating that they receive financial backing from pharmaceutical companies? I would wager that the percentage of pharma-backed providers is greater than 1, but probably less than 5% at the outside. Not to mention, as a rule, you probably won’t be able to personally get to know who is diagnosing your child, because they hopefully are maintaining some professional boundaries with clients. Comments like this also are entirely focused on the potential harm of certain prescriptions, and ignore the considerable harm caused by not diagnosing and treating certain conditions early. Also on the slip side, if this concern is the only one you have with the mental health treatment system, you are also missing quite a lot.

You will need to set up a treatment plan with your pediatrician. If in the US, your son needs an IEP - ask the school. ADHD is a learning disability and under the Americans with Disabilities Act the school is legally required to make reasonabke accomodations, which may include measures like reduced homework. Valuable resources include ADDitude magazine and channels from ADHD youtubers like How to ADHD.

Can we not use the word ‘treat’ please? People with ADHD are not lab rats.
@petrinapedry6450
@petrinapedry6450 3 жыл бұрын
Are you serious? Lab rats are experimented on, not treated. Health sectors have long used the word treat to refer to evidenced based interventions addressing problems and disorders (yes, people have problems and disorders, ALL of us), as have psychologists. I wonder, do you people just sit around trying to find things to be offended about? Wonder what would happen if you used all that energy to actually learn something? 🤔
