Great question. From what I know locking the volume is done with guided access. I explain it in this video. However, when you do this your child will not be able to switch between apps. Unfortunately, playing music is the only place to limit volume. If you'd like to know how to limit music let me know. Otherwise, guided access is the only place to limit game volume that I know of.

You should be able to set an hour in guided access. On the bottom left of the guided access window click options. Highlight time and it will give you a set of time wheels to set how long the time limit should be. Your ipad must just have a default of 15 min. Let me know if that works. Cheers.

iPads are TERRIBLE for children. My daughter had the Amazon fire 7 for 2 years. I got get an iPad as an upgrade and she just goes back to her old tablet. The iPads restrictions are too tight or too loose. No in-between
@AwarenessModule4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Jordan. I find it really depends what you're trying to accomplish. For education and creativity I've found ipads to be remarkable tools.
@jordondeannon55014 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. My biggest problem is that, with the Amazon tablets. You can more or less fire and forget because of the "Amazon kids" app that you pay like £2 a month for. It gives a whole profile for your child and they can just download anything on there for free. Of course there are paid apps but not many. Sometimes when you just need 2 minutes to clean the house or something it's useful to have a tablet for entertainment also. With the I pad I have to unlock the restrictions and search for things I think she would like, download a bunch and then put the restrictions back on. Also Netflix doesn't come under the 4+ rated apps. So I have to set it to 14+ if she wants to watch something. It would be easier if I could just set the iPad to "No in app purchases" "Access to app store but no purchases" "Block certain apps" Then she could browse and download what she wants but I know there won't be. Or have the Amazon kids app more open. As you CAN download it on iPad but it is SUPER limited.

@AwarenessModule4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think this is possible Dee. The iPad does not know how to distinguish between different channels because they are all on the same platform. You could try to block the URL of the channel, but I think that would only work if you were accessing the channel via the web and not the app. I’ll look into it for the 2021 update video coming soon.

Hey, super helpful Video! Just a few questions before I apply These settings: can the kid just change these options, especially for screentime, whenever they want? The ipad the kid uses is for school, so he has it setup with his own apple account and his own ipad Passcode. Can we set up our own password for parental controls, without him being able to change it, because he knows the ipad password? He wants to cooperate with us, but cant control himself when it comes to games😅 but he needs the Password for school obviously. Bit of a dilemma, would be really apprechiated if youve got any ideas Thanks!

Yes, when you set parent controls you should be able to create your own password despite the child having the passcode to access the iPad. Hope that makes sense.
