I would not be able to just stand there. I'm 35 and I could have got down there and back up easily. My 55 year old mother in law could have done the same. If that lady is so incredibly weak, she should have done a much better job watching the child, so something like this could have been avoided.

So, the mother did not care enough to pay attention to him in a obviously dangerous place. Then, when he falls off the platform and is in mortal danger from electrocution and/or being squished by the train, she literally stands there and watches, doing NOTHING to save him. I am wondering if she is the step-mother or nanny, instead of being the mother- judging by her apparent lack of concern.
@girlofanimation2 ай бұрын
Yeah, she definitely seemed neglectful and not too concerned about the child's safety. I don't have kids, but I make sure my niece holds my hand and walks on the side of me furthest from the tracks. She wouldn't climb onto the tracks, but there's a danger of someone walking by and pushing her or her losing her balance if she got too close to the edge. I don't understand adults like that woman who let toddlers run or wander far behind them, especially in places like a train station.

Maybe not enough disciplining and behaviour practice for what to do while in public... It was drilled into me by my parents, aunts, uncles, nd grandpa to not stray too far from them and to always hold their hands or part of their clothes when I was that small. Parents today really have to take the time to teach their kids how to behave in public, how to ask for help in an emergency, etc. and practice these things with them so they gain confidence while out in public.

It is insanely irresponsible not to hold the hand of your toddler. I had my kids trained that whenever we went somewhere, they were holding my hand. Freeze is definitely a fear response. Not everyone handles stressful/ high pressure situations well. Regardless of parental instincts not everyone will jump in to save the child some will stand on the sidelines and freak out. Also she had too many kids. She was obviously overwhelmed with the amount of kids she had while travelling. Im saying all this not to excuse her actions but because we have only seen a short clip of her as a parent and without all the information I see a struggling parent rather than a willfully negligent one. Most people who have kids don't really seem to understand the little things that contribute to child safety. For 1) she should have all the kids who can walk in front of her. Never behind. You can't see behind you and things with kids happen fast. You give yourself very little to no time to react to danger when it's happening behind you. 2) If you aren't capable of watching that many children of various ages (looks like her youngest was an infant and oldest was about 5) then don't travel solo with kids 3) if you have to travel with kids get a baby carrier so you aren't carrying a heavy car seat and you have both hands without putting the baby down and get a leash for the middle child. He doesn't seem like a runner but he is a stop and find outer. He looks no older than 2, they get curious and have zero impulse control. He thought "hmm what if i go down there?" And did. Leashes would prevent him from carrying out each thought and keep him from stopping.

Wow, what is wrong with the comment section. It is easy to pass judgment here, but kids can be a handful. Maybe mom had been calling him, and he wouldn't listen, so like most parents, you begin to walk away, hoping they will follow. She literally started running back to the child as soon as he started crawling backward, meaning she was being attentive. Truth is, there is not enough in this video to condemn her as a "bad" mother. Could she have handled this differently considering its train tracks? Hell yeah, but Im sure she won't make that mistake again.
