I would not be able to just stand there. I'm 35 and I could have got down there and back up easily. My 55 year old mother in law could have done the same. If that lady is so incredibly weak, she should have done a much better job watching the child, so something like this could have been avoided.

So, the mother did not care enough to pay attention to him in a obviously dangerous place. Then, when he falls off the platform and is in mortal danger from electrocution and/or being squished by the train, she literally stands there and watches, doing NOTHING to save him. I am wondering if she is the step-mother or nanny, instead of being the mother- judging by her apparent lack of concern.
@girlofanimation
@girlofanimation 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, she definitely seemed neglectful and not too concerned about the child's safety. I don't have kids, but I make sure my niece holds my hand and walks on the side of me furthest from the tracks. She wouldn't climb onto the tracks, but there's a danger of someone walking by and pushing her or her losing her balance if she got too close to the edge. I don't understand adults like that woman who let toddlers run or wander far behind them, especially in places like a train station.

@@ChesterManfred I had some women say things like “your toddler is not a dog” and I would say No she is my child and I am keeping her safe! I didn’t pull her, she literally walked right beside me and she loved her little bookbag! And it was woman who didn’t have children or only one, who said something. My daughter ran off almost in the busy city street before I got it! I had to run after her and leave my stroller! I literally let go of her hand for a second! So I support the use of harness bookbags! It’s not meant to pull your child but for them to learn not to take off when you have to use your hands 😆

Maybe not enough disciplining and behaviour practice for what to do while in public... It was drilled into me by my parents, aunts, uncles, nd grandpa to not stray too far from them and to always hold their hands or part of their clothes when I was that small. Parents today really have to take the time to teach their kids how to behave in public, how to ask for help in an emergency, etc. and practice these things with them so they gain confidence while out in public.

It is insanely irresponsible not to hold the hand of your toddler. I had my kids trained that whenever we went somewhere, they were holding my hand. As they got older, I would walk with my hand on their back or shoulder so that I was ready to intervene if something crazy happened. It always kills me when I see people walking with small children trailing behind them, and they aren't even watching them. It's so sad.

Freeze is definitely a fear response. Not everyone handles stressful/ high pressure situations well. Regardless of parental instincts not everyone will jump in to save the child some will stand on the sidelines and freak out. Also she had too many kids. She was obviously overwhelmed with the amount of kids she had while travelling. Im saying all this not to excuse her actions but because we have only seen a short clip of her as a parent and without all the information I see a struggling parent rather than a willfully negligent one. Most people who have kids don't really seem to understand the little things that contribute to child safety. For 1) she should have all the kids who can walk in front of her. Never behind. You can't see behind you and things with kids happen fast. You give yourself very little to no time to react to danger when it's happening behind you. 2) If you aren't capable of watching that many children of various ages (looks like her youngest was an infant and oldest was about 5) then don't travel solo with kids 3) if you have to travel with kids get a baby carrier so you aren't carrying a heavy car seat and you have both hands without putting the baby down and get a leash for the middle child. He doesn't seem like a runner but he is a stop and find outer. He looks no older than 2, they get curious and have zero impulse control. He thought "hmm what if i go down there?" And did. Leashes would prevent him from carrying out each thought and keep him from stopping.

The fact that the mother just stood there hesitating is just wild

Wow, what is wrong with the comment section. It is easy to pass judgment here, but kids can be a handful. Maybe mom had been calling him, and he wouldn't listen, so like most parents, you begin to walk away, hoping they will follow. She literally started running back to the child as soon as he started crawling backward, meaning she was being attentive. Truth is, there is not enough in this video to condemn her as a "bad" mother. Could she have handled this differently considering its train tracks? Hell yeah, but Im sure she won't make that mistake again.

happyandfree30: i reject your argument. As a father of 3 I believe there is absolutely no excuse for not holding that child's hand in this potentially dangerous environment. Full stop! I very much appreciate your forgiving nature, but no. Just no

As a mom; #1 I would never let my child trail behind me, I've seen way too many accidents happen because of that same reason. #2 I would've laid myself down and reach to get my baby if I had an inckling that I wouldnt be able to get back up. But then again that's just me, I stay level-headed in a panicked situation and then freak the heck out once everything is under control. 😱

Child is standing upright, reaching up his arms - mother doesn't even kneel down, grab his hands and pull him up. Hope action was taken against this mother.

Ok…lesson learned…keep an eye on your little one. What a neglectful mother.

Out of ALL places, why would you let your kid out of sight right next to train tracks?? I get being an exhausted parent and all that, but this should never have had the chance to happen. Hope the mom learns from this

Listen I agree that the mom shouldn’t have thought twice while the child was down there about getting the child up but we don’t know what the situation was we don’t know where they were going or why they were in such a rush❤

I believe God puts certain people at a place where they need to be at that moment to make a difference. Numerous times I have changed my course for the day or my plans and have been there to help save people and animals.

What kind of mother leaves a small child to walk alone on a train platform? I'm shocked. She walks away with the child immediately, with NO attempt to thank the men who cared.

She should have been holding that child's hand and walking with him, not rushing along and leaving him/her to run behind her. What a crappy mother, both the kids should be taken away from her.

This is either a clever way to get away with murdering your child without actually doing the dirty work, or a mom who shouldn’t be allowed to be alone with her children. Glad the kid is ok
