[voice over] The Child-Protection Door Lock system provides added safety for small children riding in the rear seats. When the system is engaged, a rear door can only be opened by using the outside door handle - even if the door is unlocked.
To engage the system, open a rear door, then use a flat blade screwdriver or the emergency key to rotate the dial to the lock position. To disengage the system, rotate the dial to the unlock position.
After engaging or disengaging the Child-Protection Door Lock system, always test the door by trying to open it from the inside. If the door does not open, the lock is engaged.
For an emergency exit with the system engaged, pull the door lock knob up to the unlocked position, then roll down the window and open the door with the outside handle.
Remember, the system works independently for each rear door. It is strongly recommended that you engage the system on both doors whenever traveling with small children.
