the main reason to get rid of it is the extreme wear it does to the engine bearings. It also doesn't save you any fuel as it takes more fuel to restart it then to just let it idle for a min. If you live in the city were your sitting at multiple lights for several min at a time. it might save you a few dollars over the short life of vehicle. thats the battery temp sensor. if the battery is too warm or too cold the auto engine destruct wont work.

I just test-drove the Grand Cherokee last week and the dealer has got the vehicle on hold for me. If I end up purchasing it, this might be the first thing I would do although I hate having this warning light on. Thanks for the tip!

Yes this feature is super annoying! But it really all depends on how much pressure you apply on the brake. If you want to avoid having the car engine stopping at every red light just try not to apply full pressure on the brake. The further and more pressure you apply the car will shut off, the less pressure left at a stop the car will remain on.

I highly recommend anyone with a Jeep and most Chrysler vehicles to get the OBD JScan app and Bluetooth compatible obd reader. You can go into your Jeep or car’s factory settings and can change any factory settings. Like if doesn’t come from factory with led headlights or any lights with the app you can go into the settings and change settings so all led bulbs will work 100% perfect without and hyper blinking turn signals and you can activate some factory options that you don’t have and etc and will never throw any codes and it is not detectable at all when get vehicle inspected. You do have to pay a one time fee for life but that fee only covers the first vehicles vin you plug it into but for a smaller fee you can buy the ability to add more vehicles by vin#. Been using 3 years now with not a single issue or complaint. And one of my favorite options to be able to change is you can make it where when you turn your high beams on all your front lights will stay on. So you’ll have high beams,headlights and fog lights all on at same time.

Lifesaver. I hate the start stop. Plus the battery is different so it’s about 650 for the dealership to replace it. Took about an hour to replace them myself and 3 different wrench bits.

This "crazy grandma" according to my salesman, unhooked it although in the Cherokee 4X4 Trailhawk, the battery is up front with the engine. Used pliers to grab a better hold on the attachment. What a relief, now to master the radio and climate controls.

I just used Alfa OBD, disabled "Stop&Start Enable Switch" and no more having to press button, and no light on dash.

That’s good intill you over heat the battery because you unplug the temperature sensor which will cause it to go bad or explode.

I just watched another video about turning the auto stop/start off, and the guy says you need to use this special adapter that costs $100, and have to tear open a cover under your glove box to get a the wires etc.. this way is a hell of a lot better option, as long as it doesn't lead to more engine lights or something further down the road..

Like seriously, how hard would it be for them to put in an option to save your settings from the last time you drove the car. It does this for the “Eco Off” option, but not stop/start. Instead you have to disable it EVERY TIME you start the vehicle

I did pushed the button for two years and then the auxiliary battery sensor broke. Cost me $483 to replace after diagnosis. 20 before I have to replace the auxiliary battery. This Stop/Start system is joke. Meanwhile the dealership makes money.

Hmmm, alright! So they are disconnecting that at the battery! Mine and my wife's is a 2015 model so we don't have the battery inside the vehical! As soon as I seen a person from another video going to the hood to disconnect the battery, I'm like "No f@*king way" I just finished rebuilding a 2000 wrangler to todays specs just to display for others how crockid the industry is and to show people they had the same technology years ago and for sure all of what is today at that time, because when I updated the electronics, they where ordered from the same companies I was searching for when I was around 19 years of age or so! Now I'm 41, also life just threw the challange within my direction and I was saying to myself "I'm to old for this, I thought of this build to help others as a kid!!!!" Weird life! Awesome video to help others by the way! I wouldn't get confused with my build and that battery location! Safety first

Problem is when you disconnect the sensor the relay at the aux battery has no way of seeing the main battery goes dead then one day you go out to start your car with a weaker main battery and it will not start now you have to replace both batteries 300$+ doing it yourself. For a 100 $ get the by pass and forget it

Just bought a 2018 Grand Cherokee yesterday. 6 hours later check engine light comes on and that same ‘start stop unavailable service start stop system’ msg comes up. Going to give this a try until I get it back to dealership. It runs kinda rough too. I think it’s just trying to cycle the start stop system 🤷🏻‍♂️. If this works I’ll let you know and subscribe lol

I got almost hit a few times pulling out infront of somebody when forgetting to turn it off. 2 seconds is like an eternity. I drive a white 2017 overland with 295 45 20 gloss black srt wheels. I also did a chrome delete.

I was wondering what that light was on the dash. I dont recall turning off the feature and I know I didnt touch the battery under the seat. Is that why my light eventually comes on every day after a long ride?

Or when you forget to disable auto start and your hand is resting on the shift selector and approaching a Stop move the gear selector from D to M and Auto stop is temporarily disabled for that stop event. While in the stop event flick it back to D at anytime and the engine will keep running. There is an OBD2 Auto Start dongle for Jeeps that plugs in and is a better option than breaking parts of your dash board.
