I still remember when this album dropped. I was a newer COB fan thanks to my best friend at the time. He introduced me to them around Halloween time, so I always associate COB with Halloween. Shortly after this album dropped, they came through my state here in the US back in 2013, and it remains one of the best shows I've ever seen. Wish I could've seen them more than once.

I remember when I didn't know much about metal, I even referred to the genre as "heavy rock". Well, searching the internet for heavy rock bands (what an idiot) I came across a yahoo recommendation for Children of Bodom. They were my entry into the most extreme metal; my personality received a permanent influence since then. Thanks Alexi, your voice was the first intense scream I heard in my life and back then I was immediately fascinated. You are the reason why I have a taste for gutturals like Arch Enemy’s or Insomnium’s today when before know you I did not tolerate that style.

Good story man! I was 11 or 12 years old when my cousin told me about this band. Year was 2001 or 2002. He described that they are the coolest motherfuckers ever and world class talent. Few days later after he had told me about children of bodom i bought Follow the reaper on CD and i was instantly hooked. Greatest band Ever for me.

Алекси был нереально крут, чем так плотно заниматься гитарой без оглядки, пусть бы чуть меньшего достиг, но дольше бы прожил. Насчет песни - всё же в первых альбомах они самое крутое своё сыграли. То же можно сказать и о Кипелове/Арии, после распада музыка стала более качественной, но менее душевной и натуральной. Потому что на деньги больше ориентира в зрелости.

People keep complaining about them not sounding like thier old stuff, which is ironically GETTING REALLY FUCKING OLD HEARING ABOUT IT about every damn band in existence older than a decade. Instead of focusing on what this music has, people are focusing more on what it doesnt have, this music is still awesome guys, this isnt like In Flames where the sound is unbelievably vastly different from what they used to do, Bodom still rocks, despite Alexi being a stone statue on live stage, he is still one of the best guitarists and writers in metal today.
