I never felt sadder when someone from the world of music died. Like a part of me died. When I was very young COB changed the world of music for me and they influenced it the most of all. Every album is perfect and special, he put his soul into every song and note he played. But unfortunately the disease is stronger and he doesn't ask for years .... I am an old dude, Alexi's age. I stopped following what was going on in music about the time Dimebag was murdered, but there have been a couple of bands in the last 20 years that I have stopped to check out. ARSIS, CHILDREN OF BODOM and OPETH. I get a lot out of these bands, even though I dont know the who's who of rock and metal anymore, I still try to keep up with the bands I like. I have to say that i spent 30 years in the techno scene, knowing so much, listened to so much great electronic music. But as life goes sometimes, i fell in love with heavy metal in my 40s. A style of music i always respected for theyr handmade, powerful played music and theyr great fans. But in german we say literaly "the spark doesn't jump over to me" Bands like Iron Maiden and Childrenbof bodom changed everything. I love this gig on Wacken, i love this band so much. The music is so f***in' great, i feel this energy and specially the first part of "in your face" is like a power rollin' over me. The synths are like sugar. F***in' love you guys! This, together with Chester and Chris is the only times i've been affected by someones death that i personaly didn't know. Linking park together with Audioslave was my childhood. I loved to listen to those bands. But when i was around 14 years old i discovered CoB togehter with In Flames. The same year i also picked up a guitar and started to play on my own. Alexi has allways been someone i look up to. His way of playing together with the music is one of a kind. I still can't belive even if has gone 6 days since the announcement of his passing that he's gone. I really regret not seeing them while he still was alive but their music will live on.
