in my setting they are essentially spies for a handful of Mummies. None of them will ever admit they are a children of Osiris, but they report to their mummy masters from behind enemy lines thanks to the mummy being able to contact them from behind the veil/shroud/gauntlet/forgot the mummy term for it. Like most secret societies, almost no one know they are a thing and those who do pretend they are just a legend

From the 'Duat'. Though they use Veil just as much. Duat is kind of a specific part of the underworld, the dark kingdom of sand itself. And Mummies can slip into the shadowlands easily.

What I enjoy about them is they're fully cosmopolitan in a way only the world of darkness can. Mages, vampires and Mummy. All tell this millennia+ story and should be fully integrated.

@@zacharyhawley1693 that’s why the 5e did well in making possible to Crossover with all having 5 level of (hunger, rage, etc.) and same character sheet only changing the powers section and a few things here and there.

Oh the stories! This is why I love OG WoD it’s a setting I can really sink my storytelling fangs into. So much lore to use and bend into great narratives. So much delicious complicated conflict!🎉

Fun fact. In mummy the children of Osiris are one of the few groups that the amenti trust to capture sefekhi on their hajj... cause they're one of the few things that can stand a chance against a khaibit on the pilgrimage.

Some people I saw said that they added nothing aside from being "good guy vampires that are Egyptian," which I disliked. I love the Children of Osiris and wish they were loved as much as I do. I also love triggering Setites by mentioning them :3

I loved the Children of Osiris when I first read about them. I don't agree with all the hate they've gotten. I would definitely include them in my game as still existing, but they live under such deep cover and secrecy that the whole vampiric world does basically believe they are long gone. If I recall correctly, Osiris returned to the living world at the time of the 6th Great Malestrom, as you said, so that would have been in 1999 right? That's about the same time as the Week of Nightmares commenced. So if he turned his cult followers all back into humans again( essentially the new, better versions of the mummies), then from 1999 onwards every cult member now is one of the Amenti. So would they still be recruiting other vampires into their group after all these changes, at least those that wanted to learn their secrets to return to humanity? Also, if Osiris is powerful enough now to reverse the Curse of Caine ( which I recall no other being in the WOD being able to do including Caine) then he is one powerful mfker lol. I dare say even stronger than Caine now. What are your thoughts?

The Sixth Great Maelstrom did more than just take place around the time of the Week of Nightmares; the Week of Nightmares is a kind of catch all term for a number of events connected through varying degrees of correlation and causality and one of these is the Sixth Great Maelstrom. And Osiris is not the only one in the lore who has ever removed vampirism from a character in the lore. The Jewish mystic/enlightened natural philosopher Maimonides struck a deal with the Assamite ruler of the people and polity we know today as the city of Petra in Jordan to lift him out of vampirism and return to him his humanity. This Assamite ruler was required to pull some strings with some high level political connections he had to safeguard Maimonides's family and larger community in return. This all happened some time in the Middle Ages, I forget when, but the most important bit is it worked. It took a while and though described opaquely it seems to have been a complicated and customized process that either could only have been successful with this vampire at this time in this place by the will of this Jewish mystic, or was so involved and draining for the Mage that he didn't want to ever do it again or even try to teach another how to do it. But you're right about one thing, like Osiris, he must have been an extremely powerful magic user.
