This is legacy of the troubles.lasting Trauma , PTSD constant fear and anxiety on all communities as a child of a RUC Officer even at the age of 45. I still battle PTSD and depression and anxiety on a daily basis because of what i went through and my family but we are 1 of so so many families of all communities. But i know evil was done on both sides and i am very open minded on why the troubles happend and have tried to understand why it started and why it lasted so long. One thing that was a constant equaliser was seeing funerals on all sides. Loss , pain, suffering, anger that so many still are effected by so many even in 2022. People just existing day to day and not living because of pain of the past. Northern ireland has the highest rate of mental health in not just the uk and over bigger countries in europe and around the world. Please know if your still effected by your mental health today. Please know your not alone there is help out there. You can get through this pain and instead of the existing i hope you can start living your life for tomorrow to all communities god bless

The troubles happened because of poisoning of minds that Ireland must be a Catholic nation. This ignorance fuelled hatred and intolerance suspicion and fear . The IRA never stopped killing Irish people since 1916 every decade since they had their various murdering spreads. Ironically their vision of their United ireland has poisoned minds for further generations. When In reality a UI may of already taken place via peaceful and intelligent mural respectful dialogue. Total waste of human life . These people and all terrorist must not be celebrated but confined to history as the murdering gangsters their really were .

It's a shame they didn't mention the tragic death of John Boyle a very young 16yr shot dead by the SAS, me and the legendary Peter Taylor have always said that his death as well as many others were one of the darkest days of the Troubles. RIP to all, may no longer be alive in this world but never forgotten. Thanks for uploading mate, I had a good cry at this. I spent a lot of time in Ulster during the Troubles and the journalist is very correct every family knew a family devastated by this horrific time.

Ok here we go … pity this pity that … our history has made hypocrites of both sides . Trying to score moral points is party of the issue . I could give very long list of Catholics and protestants murdered by IRA who just so happen to murder more Catholics than all loyalists terrorist combined . Zzz ohh there me doing it “ pity that” zzz no soldiers would be on the streets IF ? Yup no IRA terrorism

Sad Bloody Sunday . IRA gunmen hiding behind children . The PARAS were not the troops for that situation. Bloody Friday? Bloody Monday? Omagh ? Enniskillen ? Darkly church massacre ? Shankill shop ? Abercorn ? & countless murders of Catholics by the IRA who murdered more RCS than all loyalists terrorist killers combined . Take a pick at any century of our history you will find NO reason to feel self righteous. History shows hypocrisy of both sides …

Thank you so much for this sensitive and moving video. I am a new subscriber who has just found your channel. It is so important that that these bairns are remembered and given their place in history. I am very interested in the history of Ireland as I am Scottish and had an Irish granny and cousins. Such a waste of life..man s inhumanity to man. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺.

Hearing Jackie nicholl speak about his son colin brought me to tears. Such a cruel world we live in, so many children out there born into families who couldn’t care less, and here we have a family who long for a child and this happens. Cruel cruel world. I consider myself to a nationalist, but I can never ever condone the killings of innocent civilians. All of these organisations on both sides, how can they live with themselves? RIP to everyone killed in the troubles, and in particular these children.

Or untamed captive members of the police or army ? Hands tied shot in the back of the head dump like a animal ? Imagine if RUC did that to member of the IRA ? Yup an outcry and rightly so that’s called cold blooded murder . Even if ya want to call it a war which I would not . To kill unarmed prisoners is a war crime … how many prisoners did IRA release? Zzz NONE

In the mid-nineties I was in Drumcondra, in Dublin for six-months. I traveled to Banbridge, N. Ireland for a weekend and saw a Protestant march happen a few hours before joining Catholic and Protestant youths, in a meeting, as they discussed life. Sadly, when everyone departed that united meeting, they all had to practice separation and segregation or else those same teens would face death because of simply walking down the wrong side of the street. I question, was all the death worth it?

Yup .. this partition was and is Vatican policy . The Roman Catholic Church insisted on partitioning of our kids for education. Why ? Then republicans seperated sports bodies like GAA & even broke away from IFA . The Republic of Ireland persecuted Irish protestants and the genocide policy of Ne Temere a papal decree was upheld by the Dublin courts . That a Protestant marrying a Catholic must baptise their kids as Catholics or the STATE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE MARRIAGE. That was genocide . And cemented the cry of ulster unionist that Home Rule would be ROME RULE. Zzz. Thankfully ROI is changing & hopefully soon a proper mature Irish society can evolve . Without IRA bombs or kidnaps torture and executions ..
