My debut novel is a Middle-grade buddy adventure. I've paid a company to help me, they provide editing, illustrator, support i.e how to set up with ingram sparks, amazon. I love the writing but my strengths don't include the rest. I'm learning alot! Getting it out there is obviously tricky when my social media presence is tiny. I truly appreciate all your advice. Thanks for that, Eevie. Always helpful, as usual. I got screwed by a company promising to make me a bestseller on Amazon for $2,500, but all they did was create a campaign with my book at 99p which gained me 100 sales, using a ridiculous category to get me to a number one spot. But I had already done the same thing myself but using a relevant and honest category, which cost me pennies. So when nothing more came of their 'publicity', I complained that didn't make me a bestseller. And they said, "but that has made you a bestseller compared with most other authors." I would have liked to hear about some companies you actually approved of and which ones you suggest we avoid. Meanwhile, I have already recently published my children's book, but I still need encouragement as sales are not moving, even though so many reviewers are saying it should become a "new children's classic". It's called "Old Mother West Wind Tales" if you feel like checking it out.
