Here's the thing with high end products, people need to be familiar with what individual ingredients don't work for/with their hair and even if a conditioner costs $36, you still need to be thorough with examining ingredients. I don't bother with any Briogeo shampoo and conditioner sets since most of them have avocado oil, rice water, or both, and avocado ANYTHING dries out my hair and too much protein tends to do the same thing. Briogeo the brand really isn't for me b/c of that. It's not necessarily about curl pattern or hair texture all the time. For instance, someone else with a 4c curl pattern may have hair that loves avocado oil and/or rice water, and they'll give 4.5 stars to a product that wasn't even a 1 star for me.

I’m the same shea products. Wanted to love but my hair just doesn’t. That DIY phase can be incredibly valuable if you let it. It doesn’t have to be expensive or messy either. It’s a learning experience.

@@denyshadials5702 u know what's funny? After I started watching hair videos of naturals a while back, I started trying DIYs on my own hair and tore my hair up lol. The only DIY that works well with my hair is the banana deep conditioner; that actually saved my hair at one point. A part of me wishes I'd never stumbled onto natural KZbin, but another part of me is happy I did.

Hi! I love watching your videos! I’ve been using Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Shampoo and conditioner for about 5 months now. I agree that on initial use, it had good slip, lathered well and felt very clean and non stripping. But my hair didn’t feel greatly moisturized, not dry, but not coated with moisture either. BUT, after about 6 weeks (I only wash once a week if that often) I realized that my hair was shinier than before, my curls were clumping up so pretty, and my hair was softer. I feel- I know it’s improved the quality of my hair. I have 3c type kinky curls and grey hair in the front that’s kinda stubborn. I feel like this combo has assisted my hair into rising up to its full potential.

Love your honest reviews!! That was my same experience with that line. I'm happy other people like it b/c its black owned. However, I'm gonna stick the rivers & the lakes that I'm used to.

Agreed!!! I’ve heard good things about the avocado mask. I’m willing to try this. But this wasn’t impactful enough for me to justify adding it to my budget (for my hair)

A lot people are assuming that just because it’s black owned, it’s meant for our hair type. Briogeo is an OLD, well established brand and it became that way well before the natural movement. That said, the primary audience was not Black hair, but LUXURY hair care (i.e whoever could afford it when it was first created). Not that this brand couldn’t have been accessible to us solely because of the price-but it definitely wasn’t on our radar til about 5 years ago (as far as KZbin goes). And after it got in everyone’s radar, most weren’t sure if it was even black-owned because a black target audience wasn’t reflected in their marketing. They’ve EXPANDED to curly-textured hair over years, both in products and marketing. So I honestly don’t believe that any of original Briogeo lines were meant specifically for our hair type, but I do think the new ones are. That’s just my take on it. I have tremendous respect for a sister who got her hustle on in the world of luxury hair care at a time where that’s quite difficult to do ✊🏾 since it’s very much dominated by white men.

I'm using the don't despair line. My hair is 4a, fine and low porosity. I am protein sensitive. I use the shampoo, super moisture conditioner, rice conditioner, strengthening oil and kiwi mask. My hair is SUPER SUPER shiny (my husband described it as matte before this but now it's shiny), my hair is moisturised deeepppllyyy to the point where I think I can skip a leave in and it feels buttery soft! It gets better every time I wash. I will only use these products from now on. I don't have any split ends and less single strand knots. You really have to use the products more than one to see results. I think the shampoo plays a big part in the results even though it's not the most moisturising shampoo. I have used soutanicals, curl junkie, Camille rose etc but none have been as good as this.

But the company going in the right direction.

I agree with everything you said about this products. I got the trail size of the repair line, because I love Briogeo Be Gentle Be Kind deep conditioner. For the price you have to do all you say you will and this line different. I’ll continue to use OlaPlex 3 also.

The shampoo is that gurl! So cleansing, but balancing! The mask is the GOAT LITERALLY!!!! The oil is great as well! As it’s black owned!!!! Overall it’s a balancing line. The moisturizing properties are meant to, balance out all of the proteins, and amino acids within the formulation. I’ve been using it for years and it’s bae for me! Sad you’re not too much of a fans

I agree! I have that kit as well and was not all that impressed. I didn't like the shampoo at all, but I did like the conditioner. It almost felt like the deep conditioner IMO. I liked it as a prepoo as well. I would like to try other products, but I'm not too pressed to do so anytime soon.

The repair mask is one of my favorite strengthening and repair masks. It is one of my go to deep conditioners but not for moisture as the focus. If I want a true strengthening treatment I love curlsmith bond salve. (It bumped olaplex for me both in results and price). I do like the briogeo be gentle be kind as a clarifying shampoo.

I just tried the kiwi and avacado mask… thank the lord it came in a trial size as part of a summer essentials kit from Sephora cuz I would have been mad if I spent the coins on the full size mask. I have one more use and I did wash my hair in the sink but stilll I really gotta do a plastic cap and thermal steam to get the product to work?? Nahhh
