@ I believe they were always meant to be removed once the spine fused. They left in the bottom half of mine because it is fused under bone graft. Would have been a much more harrowing surgery. But the top half did it’s job. The reason they had to do the repair the first time is because it had only been in two years. The fusion wasn’t complete. (hug)
