Little Piggy needs to always be on a leash - a very long leash - but still a leash. I would be a mess too, if I couldn't find my fur baby. And since this wasn't the first time she run off for hours, I would definitely keep that little rascal within view at all times.

I am glad you found piglet. She needs to be a lead all the time as her breed is meant to hunt badgers and other small critters. I would have been upset as well if that was me . I love the cat on Mike's back. He is so a great guy.

Gosh, I definitely know that horrible panicky feeling! Once my dog ran away while on a walk on holiday (well, she saw a rabbit and started chasing it and we couldn't follow fast enough) and we were leaving the next day! We were so scared that she would get lost!Luckily she ended up coming back a couple of hours later but gosh! Anyway, I'm so glad that you found her! I'm with the others on putting a gps or a bell on her collar. Also: You and Mike are just so adorable, you've definitely got the kind of relationship that I'd like to have in the future. Fleur I understand your pain, I have been house/dog & puppy sitting for my neighbor this week and the puppy likes to wake me up at 10 til 6am (not impressed). So I was walking home this morning and my dad was outside with our dog who has been throwing up most of the night and all morning. Needless to say I came in saw she'd messed in my room and my brothers old room and called the emergency vet. That feeling when your helpless and there is nothing you can do, but sit there with your furr baby is beyond any kind of pain I can describe. So happy Pig is home safe, sorry she keeps running off though. Thank you for your videos its nice to see a bright side on a bad day.

Dachshunds were bred as hunting dogs to flush out badgers etc, Piglet obviously has that prey drive. It's a balance but to keep Piglet on lead all the time would be denying her the opportunity to live the life her instincts demand. Is it worse to have her off lead in a place with no roads and she occasionally wonders off or to be kept on a lead and live like a city dog? She's so cute and seems vulnerable but I do think you have to let dogs live or what's the point? I'm lucky my springer and terrier are good on recall and I don't know if I'd act differently if they started wandering but don't be too quick to judge Fleur, she's giving those dogs an exceptional life that few dogs get to experience

I'm so happy you found her! She's such a little angel. I know it's hard to leash a dog if you're not used to doing it or maybe growing up your old dogs never had to. But I promise you will get used to leashing her. My dog I cannot imagine not leashing her now. It will get easier :)

this was not the first time Piglet was missing. so why would you let her out and run when you know someday she maybe not comming back... I would let the other dogs run since they are ok with comming back, but not Piglet she can have a long leash for now. just my opinion.

Oh little Piggie!! Our dog has a habit of running away too and we bought an electric collar. With the remote you can have it make a warning noise, so that the dog understands he/she has to listen when being called upon. And if it doesn't listen you can give the dog an electric shock. Just minor, don't worry. Our dog associates the collar with walkies so he is very eager to put it on and we hardly ever use the shock-mode. Most of the times we only use the warningnoise. Might be a solution to train Piglet and still keep her off the leash :-)

I have a doxie, he is 8 now, so he doesnt run of anymore, but he used to run away when he was younger, and I have certainly cried my share of tears about it! Buy her a harness with a pouch on it! And then stick your iphone in during walks. If she runs of you can find your iphone on your MAC! But one important thing is to ALWAYS show her that you are very happy when she comes back on her own 💜

purpledragonfly4 Dachshunds are natural hunters and burrowers, She WILL get hurt by a badger or worse. I own One too so I know it's hard but the training is worth it. They are smart dogs and she is young enough to learn fast.

A wolf could get Piglet, there are many predators larger than Piglet that will attack her, even small night creatures such as Owls that see well at night whereas Piglet is disadvantaged, so please consider putting her on a tether. I fear if these excursions continue Piglet will be in danger. The suggestion for a lighted collar as well as larger, louder bells are good ones, but there is nothing like a leash. She has to be protected because of her size, unlike the larger dogs.

You might want to invest in some tracking collars for the dogs that you just put on them when you go for walks. We use them with our dogs and they're a lifesaver. It'll save a lot of time looking for them!

Naughty piggle wiggle! One of our westies would do that for sure given the chance! She's a wild one that's for sure, there's so many adventures to be had in the English countryside. I definitely think you should get a GPS tracker on her though if you don't want to leash her. Naughty Pig. My dog just to run off as well (he is part podenco, which is a spanish hunting dog) and we had to look for him for hours. Fortunately he always found his way home. But as we are not living in such a beautiful country side as Fleur, he is always on a lead for the walkies...

Aww naughty pig. Glad you found her. There must be some kind of technology that could help you find her when she does this. Maybe a gps collar or something similar? I don't know if those exist but they should. I know that everybody says to just keep her on a lead but it's harder than it sounds. We have 3 dogs that run wild around our garden all the time too. Thankfully they're pretty big and can take care of themselves a bit more than Piglet probably can so we don't worry quite the same when they disappear for a while.

Oh dear! I think it might be long lead from now on for pig? We have a springer and a mini dachshund and the springer is fine off lead but lola our little sausage just has to stay on the lead as annoying as it is! They're such stubborn little dogs and so easily distracted and run off - any distraction and lola is GONE and won't listen to you at all! Bloody stubborn sausages, they are the cutest though. Glad pig was okay!

My chocolate lab used to do the same thing. He would run off to the creek and not come back for hours. One day he didn't come back and I almost had a panic attack. Luckily, some in neighborhood next door found him and he was fine, but that was the day that we chipped him (in addition to making sure he always wore his tags).

Poor piglet might just need to always be kept on a long leash. No matter how much training we put into my dog he never stopped running off, once he got a smell he wanted he wouldn't think or hear anything else. Once she gets used to being on a lead all the time she won't even notice it anymore :)

Omg my dog is always on a leash because i live in montreal city there is a lot of cars. I take off the leash when we are close to home and he usually stay around. but one time he was curious i guess and went away for like 30 secondes and i was freaaaking out loll. I'm sorry to say this but it's time piglet went on a lead, this is not the first time or even the second time she has run its becoming a common thing for her to do this. Sooner or later she will run and get herself stuck down a hole somewhere and get hurt. We had a dog when I was younger and we could never let her be unleashed she would always run and not come back
