I like it. Very interesting with the small pots. This year I tried bigger pots and so far less successful than last year in the smaller ones. Plus I've had major pest issues, so it's going to be a slim harvest for me. Might try a small indoor setup to try and compensate somewhat.

It's a real shame how this year has turned out Shaun and I feel fot you, in particular that it's also your livelihood, your business!! I've had an awful 2 years. Last year, evicted for no reason, this year having to concentrate on converting our new house into a disabled friendly house for my incapacitated mother which all in all equals 2 years of not growing a single thing!!!!😤😤😤 I will be joining you with growing the piquante pepadew peppers next year as Ive eaten them for years and always wanted to grow them and I now have my new extended greenhouse and potting shed. So, I accept your challenge and look forward to beating you.......oops! Typing error, I mean being beaten. Not!! Good luck for next year buddy and keep on going. 👍👍

Nice space in the back yard! Just made some hot sauce today, and white wine vinegar is a game changer, excellent flavor in my hot sauce. You can plant thyme in between the chiles and that will take care of vine weed or sapphire indigo clematis, this will choke out the vine weeds. I have tried thyme but not the clematis. 😅

Enjoyed the video uk weather this year has been poor.but finally my plants are pushing out lots of pods.And one accidentally cross I’m so happy with.Bananas will be placed in pots soon just to get them rip before the frosts come .Hope it’s still a little way off.But last year I was still picking peppers on Christmas Day from my small green house.But as always this time next year we will be millionaires.With bumper harvests of chillis.

Certainly has been a weird season. Thinking back it seems to me that my plants didn't suffer as much with aphids throughout May/June and consequently the growth was really impressive and the foliage really beautiful and unscathed. They continued to flourish but as noted here all the pods are well behind in terms of ripening/harvests. Even my Baskets of Fire that have hundreds of pods and turn pretty quickly are still yellow/purple. All my varieties are at pretty much the same stage as in this video. Very disappointing but interesting to learn it's not just mine, too. Hopefully next year will be better!

Very enjoyable video Shaun! Nice to see what feels a bit more laid back, at least from my viewing perspective. I could see so much enjoyment and opportunities at your new home location, including a possible suggestion of mini isolated grow pods. Why I would not even be surprised to see that Mrs CC could come to enjoy a few flower pods for her interests, limiting exposure to insects and pests.Hopefully frost will hold off to allow the plants to reach their fruitful stages, unless Mother Nature is doing some of Her selective processing this season. As Always... Stay Spicy! -Bob...

My peppers have pretty much been a disaster. Really cold spring, turned into a very hot and dry summer, and fall appears to be coming sooner than usual. Almost no chinense peppers at all. All of the plants in pots have pretty much failed or won't get ripe fruit before it frosts in mid-October, but I do have one large raised bed that has done well.

My plants are never been larger and bore more fruit, but it's getting late in the year and I'd say less than 20% of my fruit has ripened. My lemon starburst are about the only thing ready to harvest and my Zapotecs are just starting to go red. Chocolate Morugas are likely ready next weekend but my SRS and Bonney peppers from Barbados are only just showing signs of turning. (Central Ontario Canada)

Was happy to see a couple on my chili plants at my parents yesterday 😍Paprika is actually the Swedish word for bell pepper. The plants on my balcony also have a *lot* of flowers but close to no peppers. Luckily the plants at my parents are quite loaded. Just hope they'll have time to ripen before the season is over 🤞

bindweed is awful. One has to pull it out by the roots and try to eradicate the underground stems. It's not so bad if you have them in pots, but you may have to get rid of that soil and not compost or recycle it. I've tried sifting the soil through a sieve with some success, but I usually give up and just put the infected soil in the curbside compost. I've had a late year here in Oregon, because June was really cold and rainy with temperatures in the 5 to 9 range at night. Warmed up in July and now the plants are big and full of fruit, but only a few pods are ripening. Next week is below 10 at night, so we shall see.

Hi Shaun, my solution to bind weed, quarter fill a zip lock bag with round up herbicide, cut the stems of bind weed and dip into liquid and seal up zip lock bag. And leave four a few weeks or months. This sucks the herbicide right into the bind weed roots which are often interconnected between plants. This is the only thing I use herbicide for but I do understand people who think herbicide should not be used at all.

Loved the video, Shaun. How do you store your fresh chillies until you want to use them, or do you leave ripe ones on the plants and then harvest everything at the end of the season. Is there a video explaining the difference between capsicum etc and how to identify which family a chilli belongs to. I've had a couple of ripe jalapeno, but they're thinner than yours.

@@ChilliChump it’s about 50% jalapeño, and 50% mirasol(guajillo). Basically a knockoff sriracha, with garlic and honey. But I got some Serrano, and cayenne, seeds to make a blend next year. I’m staying away from super hots for now. Although it’s hilarious when you blend them up, I’d rather not. At least not for a while. BTW, do you have any issues with kahm yeast blooming in the finished product? I skimmed some off the mash, then it reappeared. But the ph was 3.8, and I added 25% vinegar. I don’t want to pasteurize, if possible.
@ChilliChump
@ChilliChump 19 күн бұрын
@@timtyndall4025 the kahm yeast appears in the presence of oxygen. Which is why you keep things sealed during ferment, allowing co2 to displace the oxygen. When bottling, make sure you steriliser and sanitise well, and you won't have an issue

@@ChilliChump cool. I started the ferment in a vacuum bag(for about 2weeks) then added some honey and garlic. Due to the added liquid, I used a jar and bubbler.
