I loved this scene. Loved it. If anyone's wondering the names Sabrina called: Lilith of Aradia, Morgan Le Fay, Black Annis, Anne Boleyn, Witch of Endor, Hecate, Artemis, Luna, Hildegard of Bingen, Marie Laveau, Tituba, Mary Bradbury, Nehman, Badb, Macha, Circe, Moll Dyer, Juventas, Juno. Some really interesting choices there.

@@zelkovas She was. But that's too simplistic. She was literally given to the church by her parents when she was a child, it wasn't her natural choice. She accomplished so many things in various intellectual and artistic fields unthinkable for women at the time because men suppressed us in the most disgusting ways. She preached despite preaching being banned for women. She didn't cocoon herself into religion, she was absolutely a scientist and also acknowledged the wonder and power of nature. Most important of all, she was regarded as a mystic and visionary. Point is, she wasn't some pawn of the church and she actually held male priests accountable for their fuckups. A very interesting figure. I can somewhat get them mentioning her because she was highly unusual for the time she was in and did not obey all the rules or cower from the men in the religion she literally put into by others. If mentions like these get us to learn about women schools didn't teach us about, cool.

@@Maialeen yesssss i really love the history of hildegard von bingen. there are a lot of christian saints actually that wasn't that christian or saint. one example is maria magdalena, other is joan of arc. i really like studying christian saints to know what they really are. i loved that hildegard was cited in the sabrina's exorcism, mainly because even being a woman in the 12th century, hildegard was a proto-feminist and fought for her rights (in a 12th century way)

Yes. In horror movies revolving around exorcism you always see some young girl's tortured body as they almost always show women as posessed and a male priest talking to the demon/s. I'm absolutely 100% over this symbol of a man exorcising evil out of a woman. Please. Men can't even fix themselves. This scene was exciting cause it's not the same old male bullshit. It was interesting hearing the names they called.

I was super excited to hear my 9th Great-Grandmother called upon in this scene at 1:34! I am a direct descendant of Mary Bradbury, convicted during the Salem Witch Trials. She doesn't usually get much attention in pop culture, due to the fact that she managed to evade execution. She was actually the only convicted person who managed to escape, by magic perhaps!? 🤔 (Family lore says her husband bribed the jailor and they fled until the hysteria died down. Our family still lives about an hour from Salem, and 45 minutes from where she is buried.)
