First, he did not write it to be a song. That came later. However, I really think these performers, while she does have a tremendous voice, should bring it down an octave. Sometimes it seems they are screaming it, not singing it. Yes, U agree that sometimes it seems it is all about the performer. It is the best anthem in the entire world, and I love hearing it. Except when Roseanne Barr tried it.

It's been said that The Star Spangled Banner is one of the most difficult songs ever written to be sung. You have to be in perfect pitch with the lows and very high notes. I realize people want the song to be sung as it was originally intended. Too many runs on this version, although I think her pitch is there. To me, it's about the words, the historical meaning, and another reason we don't have English kings or queens reigning over us. It's for America and it's patriots. We're not a perfect country by any standard but I wouldn't want to live any place else.🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

No, as a classically trained vocalist, she was pitchy and very sharp in many areas of the anthem. It may have been nerves. It's not easy singing before thousands and being televised. Her heart was there, though and that's what matters in the end.

@@kenbrickman4412 The 1991 version of Whitney Houston singing the National Anthem was mimed (not live). It has been documented and proven that it was done in the studio one week before the game. The Orchestra was recorded also one week before. The recording kept her imperfections in so to make it sound as if it were live, she was actually hitting notes flat and sharpe. Don't believe me look it up.
