Chillipam Gompa in Arunachal - one of the most beautiful Buddhist monasteries | OK North East

Located at a hill top near Rupa in Arunachal Pradesh, Chillipam Gompa is considered one of the most beautiful monasteries in the world. Also known as Sang-ngag Choekhor Dargyeling Monastery, the monastery enjoys a spectacular location, overlooking the mountains, and offers a bird's-eye view of Rupa. Young monks / Drapa, not Lama. Lama (like a professor in college) is the title given to a monk after he completes the study of Buddhist philosophy and has proven his wisdom by his preaching. Most monks spend 20 or more years studying Buddhist philosophy. Amongst the hundreds of adult monks, only one or two may be Lama.
