I can’t express how EASY it was to install.This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Something should be done about refrigerators because they vent the heat in the house , Wich is fine in the winter but needs an option to vent during the summer , maybe a simple vent through the roof and some ducting done by the refrigerator manufacturers and a flapper to devert the heat during the winter is called for !

You can't keep a refrigerator cold by directly using hot summer air. You need two stages, one from hot to room temperature and one from room temperature to cold. So the answer is to move your refrigerator to a spot right in front of your air conditioner. In principle, you could design a system with an extra air conditioner (or a liquid-based cooling system) connected directly to the fridge and with a vent to outside, so the two compressors turn on and off at the same time.

It's a evaporative cooler. It will probably put out air around 10-20 degrees cooler than the air temperature. Old tech in a fancy package. You can also freeze the filter which will make it feel even colder.

The math on this is a little complex, but very roughly, that means you’d need to melt another kilogram of ice every ten minutes or so, to keep your room cool. Where I live, you can buy a 10 pound sack of ice for a few dollars. You’d need a new one of those every hour or so to keep your room cool with this kind of design. So, yes, in principle ice and a fan can cool a room down. Realistically, it would take an unrealistic amount of ice, or an unusually well-sealed and insulated room.

How well does it work? I have weather that is over 100+ degrees. A 20" commercial fan with a wet towel in front of it is probably more effective.

@@geezee1579 It works well, but not that well in places of high humidity. Sure you can use a fan with a wet towel, but a fan replaces the air near an object with air far from the object. If the object is colder than the air, it will cool the nearby air, so the fan will replace that air with hotter air, warming the object. Fans cool people this way when the air temperature is less than body temperature. For high temperatures they cool differently. Your body cools in hot temperatures by the heat absorbed by sweat evaporating. This makes the nearby air more humid, retarding sweat evaporation. A fan will replace the humid air with drier air, making sweat evaporate faster, cooling you. Also, a fan slightly heats the room, the electricity that powers it eventually turns into heat.

Yes, the evaporating water will remove the heat of vaporization from the water in the air and by putting more water into the air, the water in the air will be cooler. However, the humidity will increase and it may feel warmer.

Other than that you dont have to worry I tried it myself and I am happy with it, just keep in mind it is a one person AC. It will add more humidity. We've got the Satan's armpit humidity here in South Carolina also. It pretty much feels good for a small amount of time. Then basically you have a tiny little fan. It works on evaporative cooling principles. So it only cools to the temp of the water used. (That's why they suggest adding ice to the water).

Pretty well I'd say. It's an evaporative cooler, you can add ice cubes on top of it, and you can also put the filter itself in the freezer for a lil bit and it'll blow out cool air

From my experience with this AC so far, the batteries last around 4 hours if you had it on medium-high, and about 2 hours on turbo, but I almost always have it plugged into either my phone or laptop with a C-cable while working Filters replacement not sure but I'd say around 5 months based on previous AC's I used
