The traveller has some black air force energy. Most people see him as a cinnamon roll, but my man busted into the castle of the Electro Archon, while he was Inazuma's most wanted, completely ignored the Archon so he could run hands with 7ft tall Elsa with an eyepatch, and kicked her ass with a dull blade. This man is built different, and I'm tired of people sleeping on him.

I love the twins either being the traveler or abyss. I chose lumine as my traveler and boy, during times I really love hearing them talking in their voice over profile. The sass, sarcasm and their chit chat about things is very amusing to see.

My favourite moment was when we arrive at Inazuma and everybody is like "oh please help us powerful stranger" and the traveller's reaction is basically: "What? No, fuck off, I just want to talk to the archon and find my sibling"

I personally was shocked when that happened. I was like, "hey why are we acting like this. We're the helping hand." I was actively upset with Aether for how he was acting. I didn't expect him to suddenly not help the resistance and focus solely on his goal. I understood him of course.

Aether and Lumine’s story will definitely have the greatest payoff in the game. Aether is the main character, which is why he was my very first Lvl.90 character in the game. I love how snarky but caring he is. I also LOVE his interactions with Paimon in their voicelines, which is why THEY NEED TO VOICE THE TWINS.

srsly dainsleif 2nd story quest when the traveler admitted that they have memories of khaenriah slapped me to the reality that while we play as them, we DON'T know anything about them. And I like it. Also when they challenged signora? I actually cheered, although a bit disappointed because the JP dub did not voice the dialogue like zach did in EN dub. Oh well. I am still keeping a collection of lumine's expressions lmao she's so pretty and so done with everything haha luv my girl

They added the JP voice later, you can check it in the Archive now (under Travel Log > Archon Quests > Act III: Omnipresence Over Mortals > Duel Before the Throne). It's not the same as watching it for the first time during the scene (and the lack of a Reply mode for the cutscenes is still baffling) but at least now it's there, especially for future players.

My favourite thing about Aether is his body language. Especially when he's done something or suffering from second-hand embarrassment 😂 But honestly, he's a very good and kind person but he's not bland. He can be sarcastic and he trolls Paimon a lot. He just feels...human, I guess.

Downloaded the game specifically for Lumine, love her so much. Something I noticed is that world quests is when the travelers personality really shines. It makes them interact with the world and npcs in such a human way that we don’t see in the character quests.

I actually want to get to the end and then Aether joins Celestia like he discovers something that redifines everything that Celestia did. Mostly because I'm honestly getting tired of the trope of "Guys who seemed like the bad guys were actually the good guys". Like straight up Lumine asks Aether :"Have you seen brother, My way is the correct path for the salvation of this World" And Aether like :"Nah fam actually Celestia is pretty chill i'ma have to stop you now"

It could be that we spend time with every faction to an extent. Gives more opportunities for character banners and development for plot and all. Or at least we run errands for respective factions. My guess for Scheznaya is that we’ll have to join them either as a harbinger or simple errand runner to be allowed in.

Celestia vs Fatui vs Abyss vs Allied Nations (Millieth and Inazuma armies, the Knights in Mondstadt are terrible, Carla’s forces may be good however). That’s probably the most likely path, and I hope we kill the Abyss Sibling, but after having them appear as a character, not just bad guy.

@@Drave_Jr. That was my guess. The Traveler beat Signora and Childe both. So they have the skill for the position. And either 1. The Tsarista explains her actions and we end up agreeing. Or 2. The the Tsarista has some knowledge on our sibling and blackmails us into becoming a Harbinger or at least a temporary member of the Fatui.

Whenever I do the story quests & hangout events for other characters, I think about how much of a bond Aether/Lumine must have established with them, especially after the “we will be reunited” quest. The Traveler is, for the most part, respectful of others’ titles and has an empathetic side. And yet I can’t help but imagine the inner turmoil the Traveler might face, knowing that their journey would soon end along with a possible farewell with the entirety of Teyvat- or in a worse scenario- having to decide on the good & evil morality of this world. I duuno this has been on my mind for quite some time now ;-; Oh and it’ll be really cool if we get to switch our perspective to play the Abyss Traveler when we reach Khanri’ah.

It's unpopular but Aether is my favorite character in the game to the point that I main him and he usually never leaves my teams! He's such a snarky dork but you can tell he still holds some kind of wisdom to him. I also love his chemistry with Paimon in the voicelines, they just bounce off each other so well, but we don't get that much in the actual story quests which I'm disappointed with as well as with him not being voiced despite having great voice actors. I do have to say that he does have such great dialogue choices most of the time, but sometimes they can be kind of weak in writing department with it sometimes being a really simple sentence carrying onto two dialogue boxes or the infamous "..." . I wish Mihoyo would let them just speak and make their own choices in the game in the future because they definitely deserve it!

I love the recent splash of personality that the traveler has gained in the few recent updates. In mondstadt, they were the kinda-clueless but happy to go along for the ride (as long as you help me find my sibling) type of person. In Liyue, they upgraded to the 'ok I kinda get how this world works now and you guys are kinda weird but oh well'. In Inazuma, it was right to the chase of 'where the heck is the local god I want to talk to the manager'. In a strange way, we are *the* traveler, but we are not aether/lumine since they clearly have a mind of their own

I really like the travellers! The problem is that they’re too overshadowed by the people around him (ironic since he’s the mc). The others have a story quest centred around them. We see their backstory, their personalities, etc. The traveller may have the plot on their shoulders, but it is still hard to feel a genuine ‘personality’ out of them. Sure, we can see some some personality through dialogue, but it isn’t even voiced for crying out loud! Lots of people tend to skip over dialogue, so they can never know about the traveller’s true personality. The travellers are great characters, I just wished they weren’t as overshadowed as they are now. Of course, I may be eating my words in the future when they have their arc in Kheanria’h. Then I’ll see you all in like 6? years :,)

I really liked how in the end of the Aranara questline when he confronts that guy, he goes in a roundabout way until he tells Paimon to go for a walk so she wouldn't know what happened. He already knows the guy is guilty and just starts presenting evidence on his face until the guy understood he was on to him. That they go to an isolated place to have one last talk before the traveler kills him is just the cherry on top.

As a Lumine Main, I love how the twins are similar, but at the same time not so much. They cover each other's bases, and when they're looking for their sibling, they attempt to cover for those bases. I love how each have their own personality (as seen in the voice lines with Paimon), and how their characters change when they hit Inazuma. I love how they're so kind and compassionate, despite almost everyone putting EVERYTHING ON THEM. Some Hangouts and Story Quests I've noticed have two types: where the character of the story quest/hangout has the Traveler help them with their situation, or where the character themselves handle their situation themselves and the Traveler is only there to watch them. I also think Lumine and Aether truely care about Teyvat, despite being trapped their by the Sustainor of Heavenly Principles. They're amazed by every new town and region they enter, and they make many new friends along the way. It makes me wonder if our next friend/companion would be an Abyss Herald or another Harbinger (*cough*Scaramouche*cough*). Awesome video, Aster!

I really love the fact that eversince arriving in Inazuma, the traveller (in my case, Aether) has been more sassy and expressive. I still remember the conversation with the daughter of the Ritou's ruler. When she asked the traveller to deliver a letter to her lover, he straight up refused ("I'm leaving"). He refused to be pushed around. He also showed to be very observant and smart during the meeting with Susbedo.

As his involvement in the Quests overall: * They are strong from the start. * They are not gonna take no two shill about everybody trying to take advantage of them. * They are more smarter and aware of their surroundings and people. They have to be the most Highest possible Strategical Prowess with their Elements as they can actually use two or more element in the cutscene(Tartaglia mid-fight). * They share and return Compassion towards others. But it also their greatest weakness. * They are actually very sassy and can crack a joke. * People rub off and on them. They pick up people's quirk and even imitates them. * They won't back down to a fight, even if they get severely hurt afterwards. * But they won't take no from any kind of help once they are less hasty about their original objective. * Yet finding their siblings is their single most important goal. If any lead to help them find their Abyss Siblings. * Every Characters are afraid of the Traveler's Intuition and even back down if they pushed them hard enough. * But they can be socially awkward, either on purpose or feeling a little left out on the info. * "...I'm Leaving" and They "Ehe" Paimon too.

I all honesty, besides getting more voiced scenes in-game, what I think would really benefit the Traveler is having more on-screen banter with Paimon. The Traveler's banter with Paimon in their profile's voice lines are soooo good and fun. Their friendship is beyond precious and I feel like they don't show enough of it during various dialogues in the quests. One of the community's biggest grips with the Traveler and Paimon right now is that she gets all the lines while the Traveler just stands there. I think it would great if they could fix that by just writing all that expostion as friendly banter between the two.

I really like Aether, there’s something off when I’m not playing as him. It really rubbed me the wrong way when they just downgraded him ever since Inazuma, it’s not that I don’t like the spotlight being on someone else but he didn’t even put any effort into dodging a beam of water when he’s bested a clan whose sword art that can strike down Tengu even if they’re in mid air and can dodge Childe’s attacks who’s probably as fast as lightning when using his delusion and possibly even faster when using his Foul Legacy Transformation but despite being able to do that he couldn’t keep up with wish version Albedo wielding an icicle. Plus I remember that Aether was supposed to tank Musou no Hitotachi at some in the story but we never see that unfortunately and I remember that they couldn’t get a Vision because they’re alien in nature but the Inazuma Archon Quest is foreshadowing that they’re going to get one even though it’s useless to them. So what I’m getting from them now is that either because of the lack of a proper lore master they’ve been messing up the Traveler’s lore or they just don’t care about them anymore and now see them as blank slate.

One of the thing I really like about the traveler is that their actualy really clever. Most of the time they guess people motive, when other Mc tend to take everyone word for it. It actualy Paimon work to buy into everything people say and the traveler play the strait man.

I’m sad to say that I haven’t had the same experience with the traveller, and I wish I was able to share your appreciation of them. I think I just struggle to connect with a character that’s a mix between a player stand-in and a fully fledged character with a clear and relatable personality. This isn’t to say they have no personality, they certainly do, but I’d just prefer if they weren’t silent because I think the silence keeps me from appreciating what personality they have. They remind me a little of Ethan Winters in RE 7 and 8. Capcom went to such lengths to keep the games first person and wouldn’t ever show his face in cutscenes to make him a player stand-in, but his dialogue and (limited) personality made him difficult to relate to, so he was really hated by the community. It seemed like Capcom couldn’t decide what they wanted him to be. Players would’ve preferred if he was one thing or the other, not a confused mix. I feel similarly about the traveller.

I've always considered the Archon Quests as the main plot, with the Events and Story/Hangout Quests, being little arcs or events that happen in-between everything. Aether canonically uses the teleport waypoints to get back to Mondstadt or Liyue at will. And while Aether is on a warpath for the Unknown God and his sister, he still takes the time to see around the world of Teyvat and interact with the people around him. Aether's personality is great, and his slow descension into "of course you NEED my help at this EXACT MOMENT IN TIME" amuses me to no small end. Side Note, does anyone consider the weird stuff we do in game apart of Aether's character? Like jumping off a roof in Liyue and only pulling out your wings a second before the ground? Avoiding stairs like the plague and instead just climbing up the walls because City of Freedom go brrrr. It would be hilarious to find out the people of Mondstadt find him weird because he climbs on the Barbatos statue just to sit in his hands for five hours and do nothing before suddenly disappearing.

The character work on the traveler twin is simply sublime imo. I pretty much got roped into genshin lore by the smart characterization of the traveler. Aether talking to Dainsleif about Khaenri'ah is such a nice moment.

When I first started playing Genshin, I did it because I really liked Venti and Chongyun’s character design so they were definitely the characters I would look out for but after being introduced to that glorious cutscene in the beginning and getting to pick our Traveler (Which at that time I didn’t even know they had such an awesome and drip looking character like Aether) I was completely blown away by his characterization not only as the Traveler but that he first and utmost has a goal of finding his sister (how sweet is that?!) I agree that the Traveler is not a blank slate, it saddens me to see how much people have seen the Traveler as no more than a self insert or a free character we get because they represent the player base just the plain hate Traveler gets for being non-meta, too much of the other characters in game depending on Traveler (like cmon can we blame the Traveler for being such caring and charming character?) rather than them being just a self insert I see myself as a third person going along their journeys with Paimon, sure I pick their lines but most of the Traveler’s lines feel too different from what I would originally think or choose. It’s also the thing about their voice lines that makes them more vibrant yet mysterious as if holding back much even from the person behind the screen playing them. I’m also quite glad for their VAs from all languages who really take the time to bring their characters to life even if it’s just the character voice lines such as Zach for Aether, he’s such a funny and awesome guy truly. The Traveler has become my favorite character next to Kazuha, and I’m really glad I’ve invested into Aether. It feels like we’ve journeyed alongside with him and Paimon. Aether appreciation QwQ (this just made me so happy because I remember how rare it was to find people who appreciated Aether or the Traveler in general.) so thank you for this Aster! Aether’s expressions will always tug on my heart strings （≧∇≦）

Yeah! the fact that behind the scenes traveler had been actively searching and reading books about kaenriah and the abyss and we didn’t even know. Also the fact that they’re aware of their age being 500+ years old and refusing to let people know. All this time people calling him outlander made me think they knew he wasn’t from teyvat but in reality no one knows but paimon and albedo (I think maybe venti and Zhongli know?), not even Raiden is aware of this. I realized late they called him outlander because that’s how they call someone who wasn’t born in the country they’re in 😂 Also really liked how he refused to help inazuma at first. Like, even the fact that Ayaka almost forced Aether to help them made me really mad at her and also made me want to have an active option to ignore them and not help them tbh. Even after the fight with Raiden, I got chills when Aether was kinda disassociating, having trouble focusing because he’s just getting tired. In the reunion he was so ready to drop everything and everyone and leave. He may not be human but that doesn’t mean he’s not getting fed up. He’s not a Gary Stu that’s invencible and Lumine is not a Mary Sue either and I really like what they did with both. Every time we get crumbs of traveler lore I’m very happy, also when we are told things we can’t see on the quests about them.

If you spend time going through his profile where he converse with Paimon about various things in their journey, he has a very defined personality and opinions on things. He's definitely not a blank slate or self-insert protag. Also he's a cute boy in a cute outfit.

i also appreciated the fact that when ayaka first asks the traveler for help with the vision hunt decree resistance, he straight up refuses and we're not given the chance to say yes. it was a bit frustrating because as a player i was so invested in inazuma's lore but it also gave the traveler so much agency and personality. and, yeah, his facial expressions never fail to make me laugh 😂

Aether is my favourite character… I have to breathe extra because he takes my breath away. I love his mystery… and to be accompanying the most mysterious character who is actively hiding information adds onto my love. Adding voice acting to Aether would be a dream. His personality is snarky and like my own tried and done attitude to the endless work in my life. And can we also talk about how beautiful he is-

it's nice to see some appreciation for the traveller! especially for aether. i like lumine as well, she's really cute, but aethers visual design is just so cool and in general pleasing to look at. i may not play him very often, but i still leveled him up to 90 and purchased all the constellations from the shop. my boy deserves it

The twins are the most interesting characters in the game for me and it always makes me die inside whenever people insist their just another generic blank slate protagonist. My favorite scene in particular is when the traveler deadass refuses to aid in stopping the vision hunt decree. They had a mission to talk to the shogun and thats it. They only change their mind once they witness how truly fucked up the consequences were. I REALLY can't wait for the "Loom of Fate" if only to unlock more info about them. And I appreciate the small quirks they give to each twin, really making both their own character. Aether gravitated towards warmth and likes pyro slimes in winter while Lumine likes the cold and likes cryo slimes in the summer. Their fighting styles where Aether is defensive yet aggressive while Lumine is offensive yet elegant. I love it. Scaling wise they may be shit compared to other 5*s but I will always have the traveler in the party during story and event quests.

Many says that traveler doesn’t have a personality and I’m pretty sure its the same people who skip every dialogue and don’t take the time to read the option that traveler can say and didn’t listen to their voice-overs which if you dig a little you’d find golden comedy there and learn a bit more about their sassy, snarky self they are. While it true that the option dialogue is a trap almost all the time, I always choose the most sarcastic comment or snarky one because its so funny XDDD I also love that, while they do want to help people in need, they are 100 done being the errand boy.girl that’ll to fetch your cat on a tree and they are like "all of this and no ones truly helping me finding my siblings oH GeEz ThAnKs! Urg!" XD Also you took the words out of my mouth the whole video because I think the very same about the traveler, although I do wish that Mihoyo would drop the self-insert and silent protag with them. And also because I want Zach and Sara to have more voice lines rather than being benched because of the silent protagonist trope.

The traveler really only was able to beat Signora by themselves (out of the big bosses). Maybe also Child. We did beat Ei, but only with the help of the Inuzuma people's aspirations.

I love listening to traveler's voicelines in the character menu. and I LOVE it more whenever his "im so done with paimon" dialogue comes. It would be VERY GREAT if the traveler can talk normally in quests and not being led by paimon's dialogue. But then again, maybe it's his personality to let paimon do all the talking cause she's so chatterbox

It's definitely impactful when the supposedly blank slate rips control away from the player to take matters into their own hands. In addition, while of course it would be nice to have more voice acting for them, it makes the few times the lines are voiced that much better. "I challenge you to a duel before the throne." is probably the most impactful voice line in the game so far entirely because it's such a drastic action taken by the protagonist themself rather than the player and that the game breaks the protagonist's silence to deliver it.

In all honesty, most archons have the "more lore than active storytelling" (except perhaps Raiden Shogun), but I like that. Gods should have an air of mystery around them, and should interfere rarely. The traveller, however, has an other kind of mysterious vibe. For the traveler, we dont know much lore, but we know what he is doing now. It makes us feel human, but it also makes it clear that we know very little about the Traveler. All in all, I appreciated this video as a traveler main, I feel like they get underappreciated sometimes

Well, the lore are great and everything. I love the lore and exploration. but the thing that keeping me from leaving the game is the mysteries surrounding Traveler and Paimon. After "We will be Reunited", I'm always waiting the continuation of that arc. i hope they release at least 1 in every region and more as we uncover many secret about the Abyss.

The only thing that bothers me about the Traveler is that it seems like everyone instantly like us (the player and Traveler) the moment they see us. I've probably forgote some details since I've started playing more than a year ago, but Venti helps scare off Dvalin even though the only time we saw each other Travel scared Dvalin. Despite fatui trying to establish their power over Mondstadt by claiming knights are too weak to protect the city Kaeya brings us to Jean right after we scared off Dvalin. And what if we were fatui spy and all of this was their plan to proof to the citizens that only they can protect Mondstadt? Even Diluc doesn't suspect us. After that, I know that we come to Liyue already being a hero of Mondstadt, and we have to hide from milleliths, but we also get to Ninguang almost effortlessly. Even Xiao and other adepti are somewhat favourable towards us. We don't really have to proof ourselves to others or earn their trust. The only exceptions are Sara and Ei, and Ei just snaps into changing her mind after some butt kicking and a little talk with Yae. And other notable exception, in my opinion, is Tohma. Yes, he is friendly towards the Traveler from the start, but he doesn't do it because it was love from first sight. He had a task from his lady, and his friendliness was just standard calculated behaviour to lure us in. Only after some time he actually become attached to the Traveler. This is what i like in characters, this way they seem more like real people. I want characters to challenge me, try to trick or outsmart me, and not instantly marry me like Ayaka.

I think the only reason they made Aether and Lumine silent was so they didn't have to do an audio track for both. Paimon doing all the talking allows for one audio track.

The Traveller has a lot of potential to be a sassy, funny and a sharp intuituve character. However its a shame. Because such traits was shown to us ONLY DURING NPC QUESTS. Even if he/she outright refused Ayaka's help in Inazuma they still fell into her schemes when she roped the Traveller in by showing how people are affected by their ambitions taken away. Do you know whats even more suspicious? The fact that Ayaka never mentioned once about the NPCs that WEREN"T affected when their visions were taken away. Sometimes I find it so suspicious that there are some characters like Ninguang, Ayato, Yae Miko or other characters like them who are cunning and ambitious, rope in the Traveller to do their bidding work and then you see in their dialogues that they find the Traveller a special someone to them. Like as if they never used us like pawns in a game. Lol Traveller isnt "consistent" Because even if he/she hated Childe and Signora, why not do the same for the Shogun who actually lets Fatui shit on her nation? WHY is the Traveller so nerfed in Inazuma and Shenhe's quest when WE as Traveler's always battle and win against greater enemies. Isn't this supposed to make us stronger and not some damsel that needed saving? WHY can the Traveller not win against the Shogun when he/she has the jack of trades ability of switching to different elements which the Shogun herself cannot do? Canonically WE are supposed to be stronger than any characters. Yet the poor writing of the Hoyoverse developers beats over it because I guess they need to sell "more waifus and husbandos" for business. Lol.

The thing with how gacha game works is that nearing the end of the game, the value of these S tier characters would matter less and less. With other games usually is that when the whole campaign is over, they might sell character for way cheaper than they are now. Since they're trying to get the final profit akin to a store clearing sale. Now why do i say this? It's because the reason most of the time Traveller underperform than most 5 star is because they can't be more exciting than other 5stars. But, when this game is nearing it's end. When these other 5 starts value starts to drop. The traveller can start to shine, which i hope also turns them into a powerhouse like the lore. So fingers crossed
