The Fatui would find it kinda weird if he suddenly joined the Knights of Favonius when he didn't have orders to do so. Sure, it's also possible that he wasn't a double agent from the start and later became a turncoat, but him joining the Knights would still look very suspicious.

A public showing of rejection visibly severs any connection between them- if it’s successful, the Fatui would have no reason to suspect him of being a double agent. It's mostly like Crepus. In the manga, it doesn't make sense as to why the Fatui would invest effort to assasinate Crepus. Most probably he betrayed the Harbingers and they had to unalive him. Brighella is also a tavern owner and everyone knows who is the original owner of Angel share. Plus, remember a 3-star sword called 'Harbinger of Dawn'? Its probably a giveaway theory that there is a Harbinger from Dawn Winery

For some reason, I can't get one thing out of my head, no matter how far-fetched it currently is: Considering that there's also a missing 10th Enigmatic Page in the Book of Esoteric Revelations, there might be something strange going on with the number 10 in Teyvat. A missing 10th Harbinger, and a missing 10th Enigmatic Page... It's just too tempting to draw a connection between the two. But I'll admit, I can't actually think of other instances in the game where the number 10 is suspiciously absent. I guess I'll just keep my eyes open for the foreseeable future, to see whether or not any other missing 10s will try to sneak their way past us...

It's definitely either crepus or someone in dilucs family. The only constellation on the harbinger wheel which can't be attributed to anyone is the Hopi hand (hand with a swirl in it). It's a native American symbol and literally the only character we know from natlan (genshin native America) is Vanessa. Diluc and his dad are direct descendants of Vanessa, +dilucs dad just happened to have a delusion which just happens to not have any side effects (like harbinger delusions)

The fact that Dotorre indirectly contributed to the death of Crepus made it seem like it was an order from Pierro, as how he was also ordered to handle the infiltration in Inazuma. The reason I can think is how Crepus seems like that character who did "some" things on his earlier years and later on settled down when he had a family. Similar to Nathan Drake from the Uncharted franchise or Kratos from the God of War. Which made him a liability or loose end to the operations of the Fatui. Also, his connections to the Hexenzirkel does not make his position good at the slightest.

I don't think we can totally dismiss erasure through Irminsul just because it's been done. It depends on how they use setup and payoff. It's possible one use of the 10th as vanished is that they were willingly vanished and their story archived as a story so that only the 10th and Pierrot are removed who they are. The ultimate secret agent, nobody in the entire world but themselves and their boss know they exist. It would be an interesting twist after Wanderer's story.

My personal theory is that the 10th is someone who betrayed the Fatui and was "erased", and that's why they and thier position os never even spoken of. This could have happened centuries ago, relatively soon after the founding of the Fatui, explaining why someone like Childe has no knowledge of them. One possibility it the popular theory that Crepus was a harbinger, explaining how he got his hands on a Delusion and why the attack of Ursa that Dotorre triggered just happened to target Crepus. Or it's simply someone we haven't heard of yet.

I believe that the 10th Harbinger was the closest to the Tsaritsa, they both share one thing in common, no mention of their ideal/name. It’s been theorized that Tsaritsa has or had the ideal of Love, and there is a commedia dell’arte character(s) that also follows the ideal of Love, the Innamorati, the Lovers. There are many possibilities as to what happened to the 10th Harbringer in this case, two possibilities that I’d love to entertain. They died, and the Tsaritsa became so heartbroken by this, that her ideal of Love became a silent topic, as well as the 10th position, so the 10th Harbringer has became a Taboo subject. Or … the 10th Harbinger is being ostracized from the Fatui Organization completely. Im still collecting evidence to support this possibility because … it’s a direction I want to personally look into, so that’s why I even mentioned it to begin with. Since it is such an interesting idea.

If the Tsaritsa is a direct Bronya parallel for Genshin like Sustainer is Kiana, Venti is Wendy, Ei is Mei, Nahida is Theresa, etc etc. I could see the tenth having been a Seele parallel with this, (since while she's similar, Furina is more of a parallel to Sin Malin) playing with Bronya and Seele always being tied together with all their appearances, could imagine she's even frozen to love forever basically and while being dead isnt "dead" and thus also why its not mentioned as the position is always filled yet absent.

Well, I want to open up the more plausible situation of Crepus being a Fatuus that followed the 10th Harbinger. Lyney asked Arlecchino for a Delusion, so the Harbingers have the authority of bestowing Delusions as well. We don’t know much about the Delusions that Harbingers possess, but going off of what we know about Signora and Childe, a Harbinger is given a Delusion if they already possess a power that can combat its influence, otherwise … they won’t be a Harbinger for long, makes sense right? And since Crepus was rapidly dying from usage of the Delusion, he most definitely didn’t possess the Harbinger strength to acquire a Delusion. So yeah … Crepus was a Fatui soldier in all likelihood, not a Fatui Harbinger. The reason his death was planned out wasn’t because he was a traitor, but because he retired. He retired from working under the Taboo/Ostracized Harbinger, therefore he must be silenced. This would indicate that the 10th Harbinger is still very much around and active. (I was rereading the Genshin Manga to look for a certain page, but couldn’t find it, but I do believe I found the Cryo Archons name! When Collei is being attacked by Kaeya’s Cryo powers, the Archon Residue inside of Collei says “oh, this sickening power. So what if it’s from Barnabas, just kill him.” So like … Barnabas has to be the current Cryo Archon, right? This dialogue is in Chapter 11)

@@TinkRomero Barnabas is the name of the indian looking desert dweller fatuus that worked with Dottore to experiment on those kids, so not the Tsaritsa I'm afraid. The whole Bronya thing comes from CBT voice lines from Childe I believe where he name drops that, otherwise it has some lining up with what Venti says in CBT too a bit since its confirmed that CBT line was mis-translated a bit and the Barnabas spoken of there was supposed to be Barbatos in reference to himself saying he has a good eye for people. As we know though, Venti's lines about the other archons changed between CBTs and the actual release of the characters, such as there only being one electro archon and Ei was indeed Baal instead of Beezelbul, Sumeru having a more controlling culture with the Dendro Archon banning alcohol (which we know isn't true), etc. etc. so they're not exactly reliable. If you want her Ars Goetia name, I know it has been in a confirmed leak as said leak got some other archons who didn't release or have any info at the time get their names accurately. But since its a leak I think its best to not directly call it out here or any youtube video about Genshin. That said some things from the CBT are reliable, sort of, considering for one the drip marketing for the Travelers (yes they had drip marketing which like the others drip marketing blurbs doesn't seem to have been retconned) is signed by Kevin Kaslana of Honkai Impact fame and their backstory description from CBT backs up this connection despite it not being in the final release. So if anything, unless its directly contradicted in Genshin currently, I'd take anything from the CBT with a grain of salt. Its probably safe to assume it may be accurate still but also shouldn't be used as a solid pillar for anything as it might have been changed if there's no other information backing that up. But yeah I personally don't subscribe to the Crepus theory from what you said already. Think it may be more plausible the 10th is the frozen lover of the Cyro Archon which considering the patterns and such of Genshin so far I personally believe to be a version of Bronya and thus it makes sense to me the 10th is a version of Seele since in Gun Girls Z (Houkai Impact 2nd), HI3rd, even Star Rail for the version of Bronya on Belobog have a Seele they got romantic ties with (though with the things called Seelies in the game, I wouldn't be surprised with this pattern as well if her name changed or she's just named "Vollerei" instead). That or we've already seen the 10th Harbinger in the video for Signora's funeral but because they didn't speak they didn't get name dropped, and yes I mean the ruin guard looking thing may be the missing Harbinger and it's not too far fetched from the realm of possibilities considering we have robots and "robots" that are basically "alive" though I personally prefer the idea of the 10th having been someone the Tsaritsa loved at some point. That or well, considering they have the model and art still in the game files to this day, and despite the original beta versions of Kokomi and Shenhe being removed and those characters still getting in the game... entirely possible the 10th Harbinger is the beta protagonist, Kate Kaslana, just retooled to be a Fatui Harbinger rather than the protagonist of the game that was a Knight of Favonious.

This is an interesting theory. My theory was always that the 10th seat was left empty for plot and to give us as the traveler a way into Snezhnaya without being jumped on sight. But I like your theory and find it comparable to Aphrodite from Greek mythology. Though it's well established that she was lovers with Ares, the God of War. I believe she also had a human love interest known as Adonis. A beautiful and gentle boy. Could be that the 10th was done in by some God or even another Harbinger. Pierro in the commedia dellarte was shown to pine and want for Columbina but in Genshin could be that he loves the Tsaritsa and out of jealousy struck down the 10th harbinger and lied about how they died. Such a revelation could even cause a rift between the Jester and the Tsaritsa, forcing him to return to the ruins of Khaenri'ah our next stop. Who knows

Crepus really fits to be the 10th Harbinger. The only point against this is why he is never mentioned by any of the harbinger or even in the lore. Hoyo would definitely put some hints like in artifact lore (the pale flame) but they didn't. Even if he was a traitor to the harbingers, I don't understand why the Fatui would go so far to make him a Taboo topic especially since some of the harbingers don't like following the rules (e.g. Childe and Scaramouche).

Here’s my take: You mentioned SCP-055, which is an anomaly you immediately forget. I think that the 10th is also comparable to another SCP, SCP-048. SCP-048 is an anomaly in which if anything was classified as it, it immediately becomes nonexistent, similar to how the Patter Screamers work. But there isn’t much to back up the 10th being a nonexistent role in the rankings, so take this with a grain of salt.

Regardless of why the 10th seat isn't meantioned (and is probably vacant), I think it's probably because hoyo will have a new harbinger rise in the snezhnaya chapter and they dont want to actively kick a harbinger out of the ranks. They could be the travaler, but also a fatui agent like lyney, lynette or freminet. They could either take 10th place or childe would move up for the new harbinger to become 11th

I feel like the 10th harbinger being erased from Irminsul is practically the only explanation though. They quite literally do not exist beyond the implication of Tartaglia not being strong enough to be greater than the 11th harbinger and the last constellation. No one talks about them, no one talks about the 10th seat, they don't ever appear in-game or in videos, they're not in any voice lines or artifact lore... If they were erased from time, either as a harbinger or their entire existence, Childe should be the 10th harbinger because no one would have any memory of there ever being another 10th aside from the one who did the erasing. If it were someone in secret, then who and why? Dottore has already infiltrated different nations incognito at least twice + his army of clones; Arlecchino, Childe, and Signora were all diplomats + Arle has the HotH to do more spywork for her; Pantalone is one of the richest people in Teyvat with a hold on the international economy; why would they need a specialized spy unit or otherwise when so many other harbingers can do that with barely any effort expended? If they're instead responsible for something like the Abyss, forbidden knowledge, or the Primordial one, I think it was pretty well established that that was delegated to Scaramouche, likely because his artificial form couldn't be corrupted by those forces in the same way a human form could. So they are either resistant to those forces or cannot be changed elsewise, which we don't have any evidence of and I don't think Scaramouche would be shy about saying anything if they were like him or some sort of abyssal being. But it's still strange. Iirc, one would need to have either resonated with the dendro gnosis or become a god to be able to do so themselves, and Scara was a unique case in that he was literally built to house a gnosis and then built to become a god. Humans can't ascend to godhood without a vision, and Childe is the only harbinger so far with one (Scara doesn't count and Delusions share the same models as Visions). And it's strange that there's literally zero mention of the 10th harbinger at all, there should at least be some remark about how "the 10th seat has been empty for a long time" or "the 10th harbinger has died/been dead for awhile". Either that, or the 10th harbinger defected/died, no one is allowed to mention them, and there is no need to talk about them. Maybe their defection/death was genuine, maybe it was a plan to erase their figurative existence from Teyvat? Maybe they're up in space, trailblazing across the universe, taking selfies with PomPom?

I think what happened is that the 10th seat was exiled and is likely somewhere lying low in Natlan/snezhnaya. Or at the very least the 10th harbinger tried to leave and deserted the entire organization and they dont know where they are. Probably in natlan hiding somewhere and maybe bina and capitano tasked with retrieving them or killing them?

I don't know if I can see the Traveler joining the Fatui if only because some of the Harbingers have done some really messed-up shit and I can't imagine the leaps and bounds their personality would have to take to be willing to be in the same room as the Harbingers at all (not that the Traveler's personality isn't inconsistent already but that's on another level). I could however see the Tsaritsa being an ally of the Traveler, or at least the two having some sort of mutually beneficial relationship; even if the Tsaritsa is, in theory, enabling all of the Harbingers to carry out their terrible schemes by giving them so much power, the game has distanced her from the Fatui significantly and I feel like it's possible that's what they're setting up. Not to mention, I wouldn't even call the 'Fatui' a single faction considering how much the Harbingers hate each other, so it's really difficult for the Traveler or really anyone to be allied with the Fatui as a whole.

Like when someone is trying to find something out about the Fatui, they in theory could find something about every harbinger, besides the 10th seat, what would cause something like anxiety. Personally, I love the theory that the traveler is the future 10th harbinger (maybe our sibling was the 10th a long time ago? idk that's kinda crack but I like it still). I would assume that the missing harbinger is Innamorati, which is meant to be two characters. The commedia centers around the "lovers" and trying to reunite them together (ahem Aether and Lumine anyone?) What is also funny is this could also relate to the traveler and Paimon. If we do become the 10th, I'm sure Paimon will also be included in that as we are a BOGO deal lol. And yeah, I know the lovers in the play isn't a platonic love, but thats okay because love is love no matter how you shake it. We love our sibling and Paimon and they love us in return. I think we are going to be a Harbinger at the end but we are going to be the 1st Harbinger, Capitano is second (or we will be the 10th, point is we will become a Harbinger). That will only happen when we will be at Snezhnaya already. We are Honorary Knight in Mondstadt, and other titles in different regions, at the end of Traveler’s journey and experience when he realized that Fatui’s motives and will join the Fatui. We are probably the missing piece.

What I find interesting about Crepus is that in the manga (if I remember it right) we never actually see his whole face/ his eyes specifically. Doesn't prove anything, I just found it a bit strange because we see the eyes of basically every other person in the manga.

I find the expelled theory a bit hard to believe, mostly because of Dottore's existence. It would have to be more vile then child exprimentation and allowing children to be put into an arena to fight to the death for the amusement of others (as seen in the manga), and he's quick to get rid of people when hes done with them, then possibly experiment on them. (Oh and theres also what happened with the Akasha) Wanderer also says that he wonders if the Tsaritsa is over compensating for something with her kindness, my impression from that is that she knows that some of her people are probably doing really terrible things but wants to ignore it because to her the ends justify the means. (But thats just my opinion) But I do think the fatui would get rid of someone if that person betrayed them then never mention this person ever again out of disgust, many of them do seem very loyal to the Tsaritsa so betraying her would probably be a pretty terrible offense. I'm actually pretty sold on the Crepus theory.

Traveler definitely appears to be joining the Fatui. If it happens, I think it happens here in Fontaine. I can see Arlecchino recruiting him, and the assistance begins in Natlan; which will be a nation at war anyways. It potentially diverges from the abyss sibling, but she/he did state we're supposed to finish our journey first. Gaining knowledge from Fatui would be a good aspect of it. Besides, Aether/Lumine already know the truth, we don't know it yet.

heres hoping the old 10th was crepus(diluc's dad) and was considered a "volatile liar" because he never truly pledged to the tsaritsa and was only a member for the mutual benefits so long as he didnt get in the tsaritsa's way. which would open the door for the traveller to become the 10th (we've canonically bested 2 harbingers and 1 with the help of an archon) since we fit the power requirement to out rank childe. The traveller has slaughtered plenty of fatui agents and routinely been a fork in fatui plans. We also have the grounds laid for an uneasy alliance with the fatui given arlecchino's proposal, our friendship with childe, and our distrust of celestia. All things considered the traveller could be a violent, volatile, and uneasy ally in the eyes of the tsaritsa fitting the role of "Brighella" amongst the fatui. We also are strong enough to take up the 10th spot(11th at worst, 7/8 ish at best). but what our role in the fatui could truly be which fits perfectly with the current situation surrounding the 10th, is none at all. all this time the 10th never truly existing could be our fault, because the 10th IS us. no one would suspect us and who else has been closer to multiple archons and subsequently present for the taking of a gnosi than us? After Liyue it's quite possible that the fatui have included us in their plans. I mean we're used as a bargaining chip to get the gnosi in scara's hands. unknowingly and unwillingly we have been present in most fatui scheme's surrounding the gnosi thus far. and if we do end up formally joining we would be a valuable asset to the fatui because of how close to the archons we are, we would be the perfect liar, the people's hero that's actually working for the fatui all along.

There is also the possibility of the traveller being recruited into the fatui as number 10. Arlecchino is being set up as an ally in Fontaine, and even if she has dark intentions, she seems to want to work with the traveller. Given that childe is favourable to the traveller, and we know that at least Pulcinella will also be playable, I expect major reveals in the future which cause the traveller to align themselves at least partially with the fatui. Overall, most of the remaining harbingers actually don't seem completely terrible. Dottore is the most problematic, but that may just be one particularly nasty segment, whilst the others are more reasonable. Arlecchino is supposed to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, but I still think she'll be enough of an ally to be playable. Other than that it's just columbina being creepy or Pulcinella being greedy, which is manageable.

Given that this was made 6 months ago, we wouldn’t have known alecchino’s backstory short. But in it when she’s recruited only Pierro, Capitano who’s #1 Scaramouche who’s #6 and Signora who’s #8 watch become the fourth harbinger you’d think that harbingers like Pulcinella or Sandrone would come but they didn’t because they weren’t recruited yet. Me aiming that when Pierro recruits someone to become a harbinger he’s giving them the rank and role that fits them best. If we haven’t seen the 10th harbinger it’s probably because there is no 10th harbinger

Another take could be that (although I believe more in your options) the new thing they are gonna show us with the tenth is the process of choosing a harbinger. Traveler has mask assets to become a harbinger, so it's possible. Another one that has a mask asset, namely Diluc. Diluc's costume has chain accessories like his father, Master Crepus's moves when he uses his delusional moves (in the manga). So, basically, possibly the 10th Harbinger, Traveler or Diluc, or another new character. just a personal opinion.

not to say that the 10th harbinger is definitely still around and that you're definitely wrong or anything, but I do think you were a bit quick to dismiss the 10th harbinger being a secret. because who's to say scaramouche was a high enough rank to know about them? he was still subject to manipulation and experimentation by higher ranking harbingers, so it's not like he knew everything either. if they're meant to be a tightly kept secret, perhaps only the top 3 know about them, or perhaps even only pierro and the tsaritsa. again, not saying that this is definitely the case, but I don't think we can entirely write off the secret harbinger theory yet.

Self reliant, absolutely broken support, boken da boken. Think about it. His lore states that he was an orphan found in the Mare Javari. He has many dads. Is a member of the Adventures Guild (which is the top intelligence field with least suspision, allowing him to go wherever.) He is super resiliant in lore, which would be a useful trait. The fatui dont invoke him because that would be invoking bad fortune, so by having Benny siphon away all the bad luck, the fatui can continuously succeed. Having a secret harbinger would be cool but why have him rank 10? He'd be higher. Or more likely not have a rank at all. Or be rank 12 or zero. If it's a secret then don't give away the secret by issuing them a number that clearly prompts questions. And if it's a secret from the rank and file Fatui then why don't the two in Mondstadt mention rank 10 as unfilled along with rank 6 and 8? Well maybe that last point is too meta. But think about forming a group of 11 heroes and having an extra one, a secret one. He'd be number 12, right? He wouldn't have a number. You'd say "the eleven heroes" not "the twelve heroes".

If Crepus turns out to be the misisng Harbinger, that would also open new speculations about why and how he adopted Kaeya. I personally believe Pierro is somehow connected to his adoption since his design is complementary to Kaeya's and the fact that Crepus gifted Diluc a uniform on his birthday that quite resembles common Fatui gear. And maybe this is a stretch but his look in the manga gave me the heebie-jeebies because they didn't draw his eyes and his talk with Diluc in the carriage moments before Ursa's attack was also suspicious as hell

I am guessing that the 10th Harbinger was Diluc's mom, who was a double agent that was spying on the Fatui for the Hexenzirkel, and that her destination was something like Innamorata/Innamorati (Lover/Lovers). Her marriage to Crepus was seen by the other Harbingers as her infiltrating Monstadt's upper crust rather than due actual live, which is why they didn't expect her to have left her Delusion (which was high enough quality to really pique Dottore's interest) with him once she went AWOL or died and they only went after him after several years, once they head finished investigation everything else they could think of. On a more random note, her successor could be Liben, who has a unique character model and a name that sounds like the German word for "Love" and who is always one step ahead of the Traveler in visiting nations that the Fatui are are near the apex of their plots within.

I think the Traveler becoming the 10th harbinger is the most likely. And mostly I think it's for nothing other than plot purposes. In each Nation the traveler has to investigate in their goal to getting closer to their sibling. Unlike in Inazuma, I don't think there's been any clear indicator of a resistance in Snezhnaya and if there were I don't think it would be that difficult to crush considering who the harbingers are. The traveler made their position on the fatui very clear, and after Natlan, Snezhnaya is the next stop. It is very unlikely that public enemy number 1 can just so casually stroll into Snezhnaya just for the sake of finding their sibling. Fighting stray fatui soldiers here and there stationed in the other nations is completely different from entering their homeland as everyone would be their enemy. The traveler is strong but I doubt even they could go against an entire nation. So the only logical explanation imo is to join the enemy. I believe Arleccino even foreshadowed this when she told the traveler that eventually they would have to work together. The traveler being made the 10th harbinger is a way into Snezhnaya and offers them some sort of diplomatic immunity for past interferences in fatui plans. This also offers to vantage point to sympathize with the Tsaritsa's cause and even breaking down corruption and outing less "honorable" harbingers like Dottore. Since befriending each Archon seems to be what it comes down to, The Tsaritsa can't be an enemy forever and I even think she may have valid reasons. I even theorized that the Tsaritsa is embittered because her spouse was the previous Cryo Archon who perished thus leaving her a grieving and spiteful widow. But different topic for a different day

i have a bit of reach of a theory but what if the 10th harbinger is the abyss twin. the feud between the abyss and the fatui could just be an act, similar to furinas, as a way to fool the heavenly principle's into thinking each side is further from the their respective end goals when in actuality theyre working together; they have very little reason not to both the fatui and the abyss wish to challenge celestia and right the wrongs of teyvat. spoiler warning for 4.2 but that coupled with the current new information that the gnoses are partially the remains of the third descender makes me think that possibly the sinner from the caribert quest, or perhaps someone unknown with abyssal ties, was the third descender and if the new theories that the tsaritsa is trying to revive the third descender by collecting the gnoses prove to be true then perhaps the abyss twin has been searching for the body or some piece of the third descender that has been sealed in the abyss. this doesnt make too much sense but i thought it was an interesting theory nonetheless

I think that the number 10 is meant to be cursed, similar to the notion in musical superstition with regards to the curse of the ninth (think of Beethoven, Dvorak, Mahler, etc., and their symphonies).
