Hello, FYI...Here in Maine, the acorns ( mature & immature ) are falling from both our healthy Red and White Oak trees. The driveway is getting covered quite quickly. When they drop this early it usually means that there is very cold winter weather that will appear sooner than expected. We have three racks of maple and oak wood from the ice storm that hit southern Maine. The big tree missed hitting the garage by 1.5 feet and the other trees were snapped. We also had two 100' Pine trees taken down at the same time. That process was super Interesting watching the ropes, bucket guys and saws deal with the sections. Both measured about 63" in diameter, with termite, ant and general rot at the very top. Cheers from Maine.

We moved to Florida 4 1/2 years ago. We are very happy we did. The heat is something a person can get used to. I played 18 holes yesterday finishing in 92 degree heat. I know I wouldn't want to be a roofer this time of year, but for us retirees it's not bad. In the north I detested having snow in April. There were times I had to mow the yard in the snow (smowing, we called) or the grass would get too thick to mow. And, the lack of sunshine in the northeast was rather depressing.

Seattle area here. Leaves started turning colors already. This is a month early. Spiders are in full get fat mode. Squirrels packing it away like crazy. The stink bugs did not hatch like they normally do this summer. Also the next 10 days is cloudy with evening sun breaks. We should be just sunny this time of year.

There is potential hope for the Ernesto situation. This time of year the Gulf Stream follows the East US coast and turns eastward toward the central Atlantic around from NY state to Rhode Island. Hopefully it will follow those warm waters at the surface and turn seaward.
