I agree 100% on what you said in this video. Pixar being owed by Disney was a mistake. Pixar use to be a respectable company that forced on making original movies and not relying on sequels, but nowadays it seems like Pixar would do anything to save face, even going as far as relying on sequels and kinda giving up on their original and creative projects. As a life long Pixar fan, it’s very disappointing to see.

Honestly after the interview, it is clear now that Pixar being bought by Disney all those years ago was the worst thing to happen to the studio
@hunterolaughlin6 ай бұрын
You’re only saying that because of how Disney is treating Pixar now. Back in 2006, when the studio first bought Pixar, it was actually a good thing and the films that followed like Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up and Toy Story 3 showed that. It’s only nearly 2 decades and the Disney company being different than what it was from the 2000s and having since bought other companies like Marvel, Star Wars and Fox and being overly-reliant on their successful IPs that they’re treating Pixar like this. Compare this to the 2000s decade after the Pixar buyout where the studio let Pixar have creative freedom with their films. Heck, I highly doubt Pixar being independent would’ve been a good thing back in that decade considering other studios probably wouldn’t have given them as much creative control over their films as Disney used to.
@SuperXmanG646 ай бұрын
Ok Yes I agree with you that when pixar was bought by Disney we did get some of Pixar's best movies ever but like they also made cars 2 and the good dinosaur and brave which are like collectively agreed to be some of Pixar's weaker movies. But like what chilly said maybe if Disney didn't buy pixar and if pixar was an independent studio, we probably would've made the same movies. Plus we probably wouldn't have gotten cars 2 if it weren't for the corporate overlords that is Disney. Besides that first comment was a reference to schafrillis production's pixar video
@hunterolaughlin6 ай бұрын
@@SuperXmanG64 I still highly doubt Pixar would’ve been able to make their films and have that successful critical streak like they had in the 2000s after the buyout. Executive meddling would’ve still happened from any other studio that took over from Disney as Pixar’s distributor and affected those films. Heck, the Circle 7 Studio would’ve still been operating and making direct-to-video sequels to Pixar’s film and we would’ve gotten a completely different version of Toy Story 3 if Disney didn’t buy the studio. I wonder if you forgot about that.

That is an excellent point. If Inside Out 2 is as great of a sequel as the trailers make it look, then more Pixar movie sequels might not be the worst thing for Pixar when the writers know how to make them interesting. The movie Finding Dory and the series Monsters at Work were much better sequels than we could expect Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. to have, so...who's to say Inside Out 2 is not worth watching when it can follow the same trend? Writing new stories with the same characters does not always equal creative bankruptcy when directors and writers truly know a good direction to take their characters, but I still really hope that many of us still care about watching Elio, another original non-sequel Pixar film in 2025. I think most people missunderstood what Pixar meant with "appeal to a wider audience" i mean, Previous films such as Wall-e or Coco also might have personal vision of their directors but they had soemthing recent films like Red or Luccas lack... experienced directos. Whats more dissapointing of Pixars latest films such as Red, Lucca or Elemental is that they really look like cheaper productions with no ambition even though they cost more than 200 million. I love films like Persepolis where a persons life is the main point, but they got a pass due theyre obviouslt cheaper to make productionwise, so and being an indie stuidio they have more freedom to try simpler concepts and thats good. But Pixar showed thay can be more ambitious with their projects and not just letting unexperienced authors having MORE THAN 200 MILLIONS just to tell us their personal family issues with few subtility. Films like The incredibles also had Brad Byrd personal experience at that point of his life, but the difference is that he had more experience working in huge projects so the first film doesnt only felt like a sermon, but also managed to create an interesting worldbuilding about superheroes and memorable characters. In geenral being a story that can held by itself and no rely on "personal experiences of its author" alone

9:29 I disagree. If nothing was brought out by Disney they would probably become defunct. Marvel, Lucasfilm and pre-2006 Pixar were all struggling throughout the 2000s. Had Pixar probably been independent it probably would've been brought by another studio and perhaps would've quickly went defunct like Imagi entertainment (the studio behind 2007 TMNT and the Astroboy movie). Let's not forget that Pixar was having beef with the previous CEO before Bob Iger stepped in. Marvel's characters were being owned by different studios and had they not been bought out by Disney, Marvel probably would've went bankrupt, or their characters would've went to different studios and no MCU would've happened. George Lucas at Lucasfilm was beginning to make more movies that weren't doing financially well and perhaps the 2008 Clone Wars series would've been one of the last of the studios production if Disney didn't stepped in. So basically it's either this reality that we are living in, or live in an alternate 2010s where perhaps we would've had fewer studios in Hollywood. Perhaps that's where people want to be now to avoid all this new crap that's coming out. Honestly these kind of videos sound like an echo chamber where everything we had in our childhood is being eradicated. We are always going to have access to the originals and we need to know that whatever new thing that comes out is not for us anymore. We can just ignore whatever that's coming out and only acknowledge the past because we all know that the future is irreversibly the definitive end point to all cherished icons who are never going to die and never get a well deserved passing.

@@brandirichardson4111 well I actually love Puss in Boots the Last Wish, and personally im not a big fan of Turning Red nor Elemental, but that’s not my point. Despite me not liking Elemental and Turning Red all that much, it’s obvious that those movies still had soul, and I’m ok with others really liking them. And Turning Red was done so dirty- the people who were like “DreamWorks 🗿>>Pixar 🌈” were doing too much and I agree that people were crazy for thinking DreamWorks was unstoppable just cause they made one good movie I haven’t seen either of the Spiderverse movies (I’m not a huge fan of Marvel nor Superheroes so they never caught my attention)

Prediction: If Elio comes out it will not do too good. Sorry but no one I know even knows what this movie is and are probably not seeing it

Unrelated but how would you feel if dreamworks made a Fortnite movie based off C2S2 (if you don’t play Fortnite it was a spy themed season)? I would hope when (I would say if but a Fortnite movie is probably inevitable) Fortnite gets a movie it’s dreamworks that makes it, I actually made my own concept for one

The Mario movie is so overrated. And I love Mario. When people say “illumination makes better movies than Disney” and they’re referencing the Mario movie, it makes my dislike for that movie go up

Yeah they can be hit or miss at times.

Your opinion is stupid and idiotic, even biased based on meaningless toxic hatred. Illumination may not be grand or epic, but it is still capable of making good movies, which you'll never understand.

Elemantally Pixar losing its soul in this situation, yes. Sad, but buisness is buisness after all. You, as film viewers, turning this films into simplified version of intself, ending in red zone in terms of boxoffice - and its just your desision. Albeit sad - but true.

Given they’re now gonna be making sequels and just movies with no heart behind them, I’d say it’s very justified in looking at this current future with fear and loathing
