I'm a Ghanaian Mom and this bit about 'being sensible and being a doctor,a lawyer;teacher;pilot' resonates with me.The saving grace for my children is I'd seen a Chinese proverb earlier on in my parenting vocation: Do not bring a child up in your world for their world may not be like yours. Balancing this proverb and travelling widely;also bearing in mind that children will grow up and MUST 'put bacon on the table' has been the compass for my career counselling personally and professionally.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is the embodiment of who Nigerians are....... she's the "epitome" of African beauty and intelligence. If Nigeria had young vibrant people like her in politics ( running the affairs of our great country).... Nigeria would've been that "promised land" that we (so often) read about in the Bible. I have the utmost respect for this beautiful lady......I love her from the core of my heart. She is an exceptionally brilliant Nigerian ambassador.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Funny thing is, she would tell you to be yourself, I think. The best thing you can give the world is yourself. Even in the Bible there were not 2 prophets that were alike in their message, they were all unique, but all leading us to God. There's something special, a unique message God has given us. Speak it. She was given women and African issues. You might be given health and excerice, etc. Even if you are given the same, women and African issues, be you. Speak your story, which will be much different from heres, by default, and that's how you will impact the world.

Its funny how she says nobody knows where Nigeria is'. I've worked with an Australian for a year now, and he had the gumption to refer me to as a Nigerian to his colleagues. My heart just sank and something die within me. I was like, "What? I have been working with you for a year now and you think I am Nigerian. I am Kenyan for Chrissake, and these 2 countries are worlds apart! The least you can do is get my nationality right" It's like saying a Greek is a British. I mean, nothing against Nigerians or the British, but get my country right. You wouldn't refer to a Swedish as Italian, would you? Or a German as Turkish, would you?

Her joyful, charming presence does not allow a person to have a thought 'she might have depression' cross his/her mind easily. Long live Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie! She is a living inspiration for many- the depressed, stigmatized, emotionally shattered individuals, also those who lack confidence in themselves, for people to believe that it is okay to fail(with inner satisfaction) even when you are taking the hard path you think is right.
