H-caps work well for maintaining updraft. Just be aware that rain will wash the creosote/soot (that builds up in the two vertical sections) onto your roof and into your gutters. If you have a light-coloured roof you will end up with discolouration. If you harvest rainwater from your roof and use it for cooking/drinking then you'll be ingesting some pretty nasty chemicals. But apart from that they work great.

What about just using a Tee design at the top? would that not also do the same thing? When the wind is blowing past one end of the Tee the other will create a vacuum and draw the smoke up.Did you ever try that?

I know this was from 5 years ago but the answer is probably no. In wyoming the wind speeds are very high. A simple T allows a lot of turbulence within the pipe. The H is the only thing that has worked even in 80+ mph winds

Bonjour, J'ai vu que tu as expérimenté un cap de cheminée genre girouette (2013) et que tu utilises maintenant un cap genre H cap. Selon toi, lequel offre la meilleure protection anti-regroupement lors de grands vents ? Merci
