What a project! Says a lot about your versatility that you can handle every aspect of this Reno! And clearly doing it with pride and care for the homeowners’ existing finishes! My respect, sir.

Chimney demo is one hell of a job. I think I've done 6 this year so far. Got a 10x4x5 stone double chimney recap I start next week...not particularly looking forward to that one. Then another brick chimney after that. Hopefully that'll be enough chimneys until next Spring...

I keep thinking there’s got to be a better way, but after much thought I don’t think there is a better way. Good freaking work and persistence, you motivate me to do higher quality work. Thanks sir 👍

I have a Bosch Bulldog SDS hammer drill...but I would love the DeWalt one like you have. It ain't gonna pay for itself though! I use it for quite a few projects...tile removal, digging, busting up rocks, breaking up old concrete, and last but not least...I used it to remove my rotors from the hub of my car! A few weeks later, I used it on my neighbors car after hearing him beat on them for 3 days straight. Anyway...love the reno work at usual, can't wait to see you wrap up demo and get onto the reconstruction part!

Seems like a good plan. I never knew that was how masonry chimneys were constructed. Nice video. I'm enjoying the series and learning too. Thank you!

What's a cost for removing a chimney run? I have a 2 story 1890 home. I was thinking of taking it out to the second floor and just sealing the attics hole. Thanks for any advice.

Generally speaking do chimneys provide structural support? My house was built in 1939 and has a chimney through the middle which kind of gets in the way of things if I was to ever remodel. As far as I can tell it's just surrounded by the framing. I had it taken down to the roofline and capped in the attic. Just wondering if I'd need a structural engineer or permit or anything.
@danbiss87
@danbiss87 Жыл бұрын
no not structural. Just go easy taking it down, i.e. don't lean on it while removing it.

Appreciate your channel and humor.. Finally you got out the 5 pound sledge. Quit screwing around with your expensive oscillating tool blades and even your mini roto hammer. 5 pound sledge is the tool to take out that chimney. We do a three story chimney in 6 hours: one roofer with dump trailer disposing of bricks after patching roof, one person knocking out bricks, two people running bricks to trailer. Plastic, ram board and wiping down the house at the end. Again, I appreciate your videos, but you need to subcontract some help to get this done and out of the homeowner's living space.
