Chimney Tops | Great Smoky Mountains (First Day Hike 2023)

Our "first day hike" of 2023, ringing in the new year from the mountain tops of Great Smoky Mountains National Park! We hike nearly 2 miles up the Chimney Tops Trail, exploring the landscape, and seeing firsthand the damage left behind from the wildfire of 2016.

Happy New Year guys 😊 Great hike to kick start the year with. Some lovely river crossings and streams. Some gorgeous views along the way. Shame about the wild fire, and how silly that there were two hikers ignoring the safety warnings and going up anyway that was very irresponsible of them. Well done for talking about why it’s important not to simply ignore the rules.

Great hike guys. There are always the rule breakers. I am of the mind if you break the rules you are on your own when you get in a jam... I have seem too many SAR get hurt or killed for these idiots.

Great job on setting a proper example. Have you hiked Angel's Landing in Zion? One of my favorite thrilling hikes. I would have loved to done the Chimneys.

I've been to Zion, but Angel's Landing was closed at the time due to trail damage, so hiked the Hidden Canyon trail instead, epic park!
