After years in laboratories, 79 former research chimpanzees received a special Thanksgiving feast at the Project Chimps sanctuary thanks to Tofurky as well as sanctuary staff, volunteers and generous donors.
Tofurky donated a plant-based roast for each former research chimp now living at the sanctuary in the Blue Ridge Mountains of north Georgia. This includes 20 who just arrived!
Chimpanzees like Kareem, Justin and Rosemary, spent decades in medical research, many of them in some of the United States' most notorious research labs. Others were used in breeding programs for research.
These chimps now have a forever home at Project Chimps, where they will never be poked and prodded again, but nearly 130 are still waiting in the lab until we can build additional habitats.
