Am i correct in assuming this drumming style forms the roots of Jit guitar music, popularized by bands like the Bhundu boys? The rhythm is very familiar

Jiti is a name for a kind of drumming-dancing-singing performance. The name does not always correspond to particular musical structure. So there are other rhythms of jiti. Some elderlies in ZImbabwe sais this kind of drum performance used to be called as chinhungu. Musicians like Bhundu boys must use the musical features of this drumming. At the same time, people often sing popular songs when they play jiti.

This is the original music, which was later played using guitars and modern drums, very few use the actual drum like Thomas Mapfumo and Cephas Mashakada
