China Airlines Lands in Phoenix

This is a clip from the live stream on November 1st of China Airlines Airbus A350 landing at Sky Harbor Airport on November 1st. This was the only way I could combine still photos I took at the same time as running the live stream...the still photos from my Canon 90D showing the carbon fiber livery in all its beauty.
Airbus A350-900 registration B-18918 (they used "18" twice on purpose since that number means good luck in China) was delivered in 2018 as the last of 14 new A350s for China Airlines and carries a special hybrid half Airbus half China Airlines livery with the Airbus carbon fiber design commemorating the extensive use of lighter weight carbon fiber in the A350's construction. This 11.5 hour flight originated in Taiwan and was in support of TSMC's new semiconductor plant soon to open in Phoenix.

Thanks! This was a very rare sight in Phoenix! After a couple hours it took off for LAX, and after a couple hours there operated a regular LAX-TPE run. So I don't know if they'll send one back for the people they dropped off.

I wonder if they are planning a route here in PHX in the future? It would probably be profitable since they would be the only service to asia in this airport.

Its possible because of the strong connection with the semiconductor plant. They're already talking of expanding the plant and its not even fully operational yet. Maybe once its up and running at full capacity all the new workers might create new demand for Asia flights.

Did it simply land for a refuel or is it serviced in Phoenix

It was a charter flight for employees of TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) who is building a chip factory here. They were coming every month I guess for training but then they stopped coming. They would fly here non stop from TPE and stay for an hour or two for everyone to get off, and then they took off for LAX. I believe from there they returned to TPE at the normal flight time for the LAX-TPE flight but it said on their booking site that this flight was not for passenger service. Im not sure if some of their people from Phoenix were going back to China.

The flower on the tail is plum, not rose which is the national flower of Taiwan
