That's why china is still importing Russian engines inspite of spending 70 billions of dollars on aero engine development 😂 How much knowledge do you have in defence technology... China did this...did that....blah blah... Before comparing with china you need to have basic common sense. Fact of that matter is to get result in R&D specially in aero engine, lots of investment is needed & this investment is risky. There is no guarantee that within the timeline development will be complete. For a typical turbofan engine development cost is around 5 billion dollars or more & timeline is around 8-10 years if you have entire echo system worth billions of dollars & expertise. India don't have adequate proper aerospace echo system. To test engines drdo is taking help of russians & France. We don't have expertise in manufacturing & testing of advance materials which can withstand high degree of variations in temperature & pressure ,that needed for jet engines. Jet engine is considered as the most complex technology human race ever developed. That's why many technologically advanced countries like Japan, Korea don't have this tech.
