Great interview. What a clear headed and intelligent lady who clearly is in pain over the forced occupation and erasure of what was once a beautiful thriving spiritual culture. 🙏 But. I don't think the middle path effort will ever work with China. There's no 'win' in that approach in their perception. The CCP is an extraordinarily insecure government. And allowing a culture to thrive that is independent of it's ideology within its borders is considered dangerous. So there is no way Tibet can live freely while the CCP exists unless a more drastic approach is taken unfortunately.

Thank you Domala for being the voice of six million Tibetans. We applaud every word of yours in this emotional interview. Its high time India rectifies its historical wrongs committed . The historical blunders of signing the Shimla accord in 1914 , the Panchsheel treaty in 1949 & the joint declaration in 2003 has to be rectified . However despite the signing of the declarations & treaties, & many discussions s the border issues are not solved & the big regional bully has violated the Mac mohan line . The colossal defences budget is a big burden on the indian economy and also the continued tension at the Himalayan border . If Tibet's independence had been supported by india all the colossal defence expense & the constant border tensions would not have existed . We appeal to the Govt of India to take a formidable stand against the Cunning CPC regime. SHOW THEM INDIA IS THE REIGNING SUPER POWER OF ASIA . We appeal india to mediate a historic dialogue on our MIDDLE PATH approach. India has been very benevolent to the tibetans in all respect, with folded hands we thank the Govt of india of its continuous support & kindness . JAI HIND ! Long live HH the DALAI LAMA .

Everyone must know the fact that for thousands of years Tibet's border was with India and now so-called Indo-China border is a new phenomena which started only after China illegally invaded and occupied Tibet in 1950 and completely in 1959. China was in fact thousands of kilometers away from India's borders since the ancient times and there was not even possibility of India and China becoming neighboring countries. So the history and truth is on Tibet's side and is only a matter of time that it would be reverted back to its original status. Victory to Tibet!

There are 2 strategies for negotiations: minimalistic (asking for minimum & sticking to it) or maximalistic (asking fo rmore & settling for less). Tibet's negotiations with China on autonomy was the former, asking for autonomy at least & fixing that as the hard line. However, China's approach is maximalistic... no autonomy whatsoever at first & then settling for a pseudo autonomy. Tibet should ask for outright independence & then settle for real autonomy. Albeit, ideally, a free Tibet is good for this entire region.

It would be nothing short of a nightmare for China if India openly questions the "One China Policy" by recognising the Chinese occupation of Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. These issues need to be taken up by India in the UN to needle China whenever the Chinese question India's policy on Jammu and Kashmir. Also, Indian government should seriously consider helping the Tibetan community to rise up in revolt so as to counter the Chinese government's support for the various militant outfits of the North-eastern Region. It is only then that the Chinese would finally get a taste of their own medicine.

India should basically not focus on Tibet - it should simply focus on a One India policy and only recognize the One China policy when there is reciprocity. No One China if there is no One India. Let's focus on every faultline in China, not just limited to Tibet. The Tibetans will use this in their political machinations, Indian focus has to be targeted and pan Chinese. Sure, Tibet, but not without Taiwan, Inner Mongolia (where there were riots recently) and Xinjiang.
@illuminatusdeus30514 жыл бұрын
@Lady Anon I don't think Tibet must be a priority, their biggest vulnerability comes from Taiwan, followed by Hong Kong. There is political opportunism present in the Tibetan community clamouring for Indian involvement. Dirty politics at play, India cannot be a proxy for Tibetan politics. Neither can the Tibetan community be a fodder for Indian goals. I am sure there is a mutually acceptable point of intersection somewhere. Any Indian involvement, in terms of investment, must be equally matched in value by the other side. Obviously the Tibetans have been wronged, that much is apparent - however, the amount of input India will invest far outweighs what India will get or whatever Tibetans can provide (even after they gain rightful independence from the CHinese). We can form the quad and still deter the Chinese - question here is, India has already provided shelter to the Tibetans, we have responded morally, what will India get exactly that matches in value if India should intervene, risk open war and hostilities with China? What exactly will India get? In my view, politics is about give and take, India is putting in way too much and getting close to nothing. Sure, dharma, yes, we've already given the Tibetans shelter, I think given the freedoms they are getting in India, what more can they ask? We need to be more practical here, I am more in favour of a Quad with the US than being a pawn in Tibetan independence politics. In fact, I am far more favourable towards granting Tibetans a state or some land tract in HM and absorbing the refugee population as Indians. Let them form another Tibet and live in full freedom of religion in India itself, as full citizens. Once we're involved with this business of separatism, it will be very hard for us to pull out, I would prefer us getting involved in Taiwan - as it is already free from China!! With HK, things are never going to go well since 1 country 2 systems is essentially DEAD!

To get Tibet free from China, other major countries like US Russia EU etc. should help Tibetans to settle this issue and bring china for discussions on to the Table for dailogue and set to recognise Tibet as an independent country by all other countries by any means. India has to play major role being the boarder country. Thus the entire world countries should help to do justice to Tibet. These three and the special administrative regions of Hongkong , Macao and finally - Taiwan - they deserve their space under the sun. China is not expansionist, Tibet was part of China since at least 1720, when Chinese army came to Tibet to liberate Tibet from Zungar Mongols who attacked and occupied Tibet. Because of Chinese revolution in 1911-12, China had lost the power in Tibet. Tibet was defacto Independent, but not dejure, Tibet has never declared Independence, no country has recognised Tibet as independent, all considered Tibet as part of China. There are Tibetans and there are Chinese in TAR ( Tibetan Autonomous Region), Tibetans are much under privileged part of the society and Chinese are much privileged oppressor! During my Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, I so clearly saw Tibetans silenced, deprived and exploited part of the society. Chinese made all Indians also feel very much hated visitors, lot of surveillance was there on us so that no Tibetan speaks to us. We were clearly humiliated and bullied multiple times in whatever little English they knew for coming to the region for our pilgrimage. We were verbally warned that IT WAS CHINA NOT INDIA. We were fleeced everywhere and Chinese guides made us pay to the local service providers in TAR much more than what they should and could have charged which made us clearly understand that he was taking his cut everywhere. Tibetans are too scared in TAR to communicate with any Indian if some Chinese or cameras are around. I still wish to recollect any moment during that Yatra where I could really connect to my spiritual self. It was so much of negativity and cheating by Chinese that we had to struggle with. Tibetans were very calm and nice people but they were too helpless. It was heart wrenching to see the level of discrimination and bullying. Chinese government is very ruthless, unethical and aggressive. They have made the Chinese in TAR also be and behave the same (with due apologies to the very decent and compassionate Chinese who must be there in China and could be in TAR too🙏). While standing in front of Mount Kailash, with tears in my eyes, I could just pray to Lord Shiva to make Himself more accessible to his devotees 🙏 We were mocked at and shouted at by Chinese almost everywhere where ever we were seen praying.

As I know, India recognises Tibet as China's territory is a deal for China Govt recognise Sikkim a State of India. India was not strong enough , limited power and influence in China after world war 2, so can't separate Tibet just like Russia did to Mongol. Nowadays, it's even more impossible to do that.
@Avidya04 жыл бұрын
These two have completely no clue about the topic. Recognition of Tibet had been traded for the recognition of Sikkim in 2003. Open a map of India and have a look at the region around Siliguri. The perilous nature of rolling back the 2003 commitment would then be apparent. Now on the other hand, to the Chinese, The Middle Path is like a beggar asking for 5 paisa instead of 10. It is not entirely clear how this could be even remotely practical. Indians sometimes implicitly induldge in such apologetic fantasies like "ohhh if Tibet is an independent country our life will be much easier." It is not gonna be.

India must raise Tibet wing of Indian Army and take aggressive posture visa vis Tibet and free it from China Similarly Xinjiang must be encouraged to rebel against China. It is unfortunate that all Muslim countries have abandoned Xinjiang

I totally agree, india should recognize Tibet as an independent country, and vice-versa China should recognize Kashmir, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram as occupied territory. All oppressed ethnic minorities wether in India or China deserve freedom and right to rule themselves.

This is fundamental thinking. Tibet has been occupied. America and western world has recognised that; now India should do that officially do so.

I had a question... Defence Minister said that China has occupied 38000 sq. Km of Indian land, which is close to the area of Kerala. So does this area include Aksai Chin or not? If yes, then how much area has been recently occupied by Chinese?

I would love for India to call Tibet an occupied land. However, I think her proposal has too many contradictions. You cannot say that China won't honor any agreements with India and then expect China to honor any agreements got Tibet to be part of China with"guaranteed autonomy" as part of the middle way. Trusting the CCP is how Tibet got occupied in the first place. It is delusional to expect the middle way to work long-term as long as the CCP is in power.

We as Indians support independence of Tibet. Tibet is occupied by China illegally, inhumanly.

This is really confusing--all this Middle path Idea. We will be supporting some-one who is not clear in thoughts.These is lot of scope for vacillation. Either disentangle from an oppressive arrangement,there is no half-way. They won't change for the sake of your middle path,it is like asking them to change their philosophy--such change is a change that happens over Millenia,like the conversion of southeast asia to Buddhism etc. Either disentange or stay as you are. India will be in an akward spot with all these confusion ideas. Human phychie does't work this way,people who are drunk in power and hence lead to irredentist behaviour do not think of middle path.They think of domination. It has to be handled well or risk conflict.Hence multiple consistent small steps should be made over a protracted time to achieve this goal,how-ever, the problem is the type of Democracy we have with Changing agendas every 5 years and , every one in power only thinking of this period. There has to be certain core policies that are Bipartisan or multipartsan and should be carried through to the next administration.

China has openly supported Pakistani terror and its perpetrators. The had prevented Jaish Chief Mehmood Azhar from being proscribed as an international terrorist as many as 5 times. China is using Pakistan as a proxy to keep India from progressing and encouraged Pakistan with weapons and money to wage proxy war against India. India should support Tibetan cause and support Tibetans to win back their independence from China.
