What an amazing discussion. I particularly appreciated Miao Xiaiojuan's firm understanding and her ability to clearly articulate on the subject. And of course, Liao Xing does an outstanding job as usual as moderator. Lastly, I also appreciate hearing from your other distinguished guests on such an important and poorly understood topic in the West. I think that China has developed a much more successful form of democracy than anywhere in the West, as evidenced by how successful it has been in improving the lives of its citizens.

WHAT? the American people don't know anything about that and that would be a government thing because they keep everything from us even though we pay for everything .the Democrat socialist fascist Neo-Nazi party has allowed 15 million immigrants or so to come into this country over the past 3 years and we pay welfare for all of them and we pay for them to live eat fight and commit crime . God willing I'm 56 years old and I don't want to stay in America but it's going to continue down this road because it's not the country it was in the 1980s or even the 1990s but after Obama was President our country started going to crap. George Bush was a warmonger and Trump was not but since Joe Biden got into office between the US and the world it's about ready to blow . he doesn't even know what he's doing most of the time and he doesn't work but he's just a puppet and when he can think correctly a couple hours a day he sets policy

Wow, China’s robot presentator is so real and can answer questions about complex subjects such as democracy. The difference between humanoid robot and real human is that a human gets “older” which makes its appearance more “alive”. However, China’s humanoid robots are just as Intelligent as a human being. China’s democracy is real and working for the people while democracy in the west is more a superficial circus of elections based on empty lies and rhetoric. Once elected there is no more “democracy” as the government doesn’t listen to the people anymore but pursue its own agenda. The overwhelming protests in the west lately are the evidence of the flaws in the “democracy” system which make it just an illusion of the governance by the people.

18:30 This segment is very interesting. At the lowest level, there is a Party secretary for every few hundred households, perhaps 500-1000 people. In contrast, in the US, there is one House member for every 750,000 people or so. In the UK, there's one MP for every 92,000 people or so. That means, in China, the point at which ordinary citizens interface with the government is much closer and much more local to their everyday lives. I mean, I've never met or talked to my MP, who supposedly represents me in government. In China, presumably, everyone knows their local Party secretary, and talk to them on a fairly regular basis. 36:10 2.8 million deputies, a population of 1.4 billion people, that's one deputy per 500 people. This allows each person to have a personal, human relationship with their local deputy. But then, the next question is, how does the Chinese government manage a massive organization with 2.8 million deputies, and not get hopelessly bogged down in meetings and paperwork and miscommunication. For comparison, Walmart is the biggest company in the world, with 2.3 million employees. The Chinese government is much bigger than that; presumably many deputies also have staff who work for them.

Democracy is of different forms because, for each country in the world, there are differences in culture and history! In the end, democracy is measured by how good the government serves the majority working people! Western people think China no has democracy! But most of them never been in China, they should go there to see it themselves first! It is totally different than what the lying western MSM said! China has more than 5000 years of civilization. There are 56 ethnic groups, all live harmonically, no racial discrimination or conflict! So, here is the democracy in China, a real one! According to Harvey Gazette survey, the approval rating of the Chinese government by its people is more than 94%, the highest in the world! To say China has no democracy is just absurd! On the contrary, China is the country with the best democracy! Western democracy is a total FAKE!! It only serves the one percenter! Internally, it is rotten to the core: income inequality, homeless, racial discrimination, gun violence, police brutality....... Internationally, it is imperialism under the pretext of democracy to invade other countries, occupying their land, stealing their resource, creating war to massacre their people, selling weapon to make profit.!!!!

I agreed with Mr. Ferguson 👏 💯 percent on: Democracy is JUST A LABEL..At the ends of the days, it all boiled down to the QUALITY, RESPONSIBILITIES AND THE GOOD APPLICABLE WORKING RESULTS to ALL..For examples, does it matter what this 👉 🏡 is called in different languages ..In English language called this 👉🏡 as "The House " just like any other House with the same purpose of usages..En Español, este La Casa ..In Vietnameses, it is called Cai Nha and etc..Does different labels changed its functionality in our daily lives of concerns..OF COURSES NOT..Therefore, only STUPIDITIES would be arguing for the different labels in front of "THE HOUSE"..The smarter ones would enjoy their houses with their partners, parties officials and/or like-minded individuals in business ventures in multiple countries..PERIOD..

Democracy is just a buzz word that just defines a system where choice matters and decided by the majority. But the argument that a particular democracy works and is the best ignores that fact that democracy is just a system but does not define that automatically translates to it working as intended and is the best. As we all know a system is just a tool and a tool is only as good as who is using the tool! So the definition of how the tool is use and how successful and results the tool has brought to the people should be the ideal standard and also bear in mind the tool need to be sharpened and shaped to achieve continuous good results that would define China's type of democracy.

@@flameasta8070 - A tool is only as good in the hands of the user! So in other words, its not the system that is the problem but the user, so the argument that I have the best system of governance which is what the US and the west seems so proud of and keep telling the rest of the world is the wrong message and argument! So in summary my argument is that its not the tool that is the problem but the people-the leaders that is the problem! Here is my argument, China had over 5k years of history with mandate of heaven rule of the Emperor and throughout this history with good Emperor the people and country prospered than u get bad Emperors and the country slowly decline and finally the bad dynasty is overthrown and a new dynasty takes over and this is repeated over 5k years. Current China political system is not inherited rule but meritocratic rule which is the selection of the best candidates to rule the country.

Another major difference between Western democracy and Chinese democracy is that the former views government as a 'necessary evil', and so they stress checks and balances and attempts to prevent bad governance, and have never tried to promote good governance until very recently. The ideal of liberal democracy is an oxymoron - an individual who is free from coercion, yet that freedom requires coercion to maintain it. China has had a very different view of government, governance in general, and the ideal of society is not 'free individuals' but prosperous families.

China has been too busy trying to explain itself to the West. Democracy that the West trumpeted as the gold standard for governance is only one way to chose leaders to run western countries. There are many other successful models by different countries. A good leader is the one who can deliver to improve the livelihood of his people. Having a good monarch (唐 Dynasty, Nepal, UAE) fulfilled that objective. Transparancy is part of democracy, as the public are required to vote, so the public has to know. Everyone casting vote will be seen one day as the biggest weakness of western democracy; sadly the West now think is their biggest strength. British PM Churchhill said it. Democracy is not a model that would work efficiently. Voters from different shades of background chose a leader to run their country. This could work only IF the leader is selfless and voters from different factions lay down their differences to support the new leader. Unfortunatly we don't see this happening in the West; it would need capable leaders in the West to re-define Demoncracy. We could see one day the West starts to look to the East for inspiration.

You are playing into the hands of the West by overly discussing democracy, its meanings and its implementation. As Confucius says: "If names are not correct, language is not in accordance with the truth of things. If language is not in accordance with the truth of things, affairs cannot be carried on to success" Democracy should not be the ‘name’ of an objective. Democracy is a means or a tool and not an end. Democracy recommends the rule of the majority. If the rule of the majority is an end then it would be justified to commit genocide on minorities for the sake of the convenience or whim of the majority which everyone rejects. Even the rule of all the people, if at all possible, may not be enough at times to ensure the ‘health’ of a society. So, what is the objective? What is an end? One important objective is societal and self-determination and the unleashing of each human’s potential in life. To that end, an organization that collects, monitors and provides the diverse and detailed needs and desires of a society and its individuals in a balanced way is paramount. China’s system of grassroots representation feeding into the People’s Congresses at the provincial, city, district, and county levels and eventually to the National People’s Congress seems to work reasonably well. By comparison, the western system of voting fails miserably and primarily serves a highly concentrated oligarchy. Do not react to the ‘names’ of the west. The ‘names’ of China are correct! They have led China to success. Find the ‘names’ of China’s values and broadcast them. Enunciate China’s ideals and state them. The world listens to correct names. The world needs China to succeed.

I disagree with everything. It just seems like the guest were tip toeing around the main issue of democracy. Let's start off with a simple definition of democracy. I will also strip out the argument of "Free Speech" as one of guest incorrectly introduced into the topic of discussion. This is not part of the conversation. We are speaking about Democracy. Not about ones speech. *A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections* The CCP holds the democratic process through a closed ballot system that does not include the will of the vast majority of people. The policy and issues that The CCP decide to address are done in a uniform manner. Each Province of China goals are fashioned after the core issues assigned by The CCP instead of issues that pertain specifically for each Province. Thus brining uniformity across The mainland territories. BUT the issues of Anhui Province are inherently different from Gansu Province which differs from Shandong Province. Even within these provinces there are variations of differences based on regions. How does The CCP address the variation of issues within these regions? But the question that is begin ignored, at what stage in China's Democracy does the people get involved? At what stage do the people get to choose the leaders they want to represent them? The CCP has there own way of selecting candidates they want to be part of the governmental structure. Even so, there are various degree's of differences among each candidate that can impact the development of each Province. At what stage in this process does The CCP allow the people from various provinces to choose the candidates that have already been preselected by The CCP to be in leadership? Or do the people not get a say? This is the fundamental flaw and foundational crack within Chinese Democracy. It bears little resemblance to Democracy in it's current form. It's only The CCP Mandating leaders without any input or feedback from the people at all which is why China is having all the social issues it has today. Installing a conservative leader in a liberal area (not conservative or liberal in the western sense) will lead to confusion and resentment. The leader will implement policies in an area that are incompatible for the people. They prefer more progressive policies. Same for a liberal leader in a conservative area. The people would want more conservative policies rather than progressive policies. At what point does the CCP "get out of the way" and let the people choose what candidate they want in the democratic process? Example: If The CCP has 100 candidates up for choice to lead Shandong Province who are similarly qualified, but there are only 5 positions. At what point do the people of Shandong Province get a say in who leads them? This is the essence of Democracy. What The CCP is practicing is *Mandated Leadership.* And on the issue of the polls. Just because The CCP got ~76% positive feedback on there performance does not mean the policies on The mainland are good. Rather, the people who took the survey don't want to lose face. The mainland people speak more frankly to foreigners about how they think and feel about politics rather than speaking to there own fellow citizen. I know because I was there. What type of culture is that CCP? Sadly some leader in China are anti foreigners. 17
