I feel like the green was kind of ruined by having it be a mat finish. I adored it as a gloss. The mat black with a orange pumpkin in that orange color would be so so so cute. Or even with just orange polka dots.

Well if you put top coat on your manis anyway, it should still work just fine! 😁

Ruined it? You should use a glossy top coat anyways. If I want to matte something (very rare for me), I use a matte top coat after my glossy QDTC.

China Glaze was one of the first nail polish brands that actually got me into painting my own nails!! I loooove the new brush, I have a larger nail plate too and the brush works so much better for my nail than the skinny one. Also! we’re both Jersey girls! And my hair is also a similar red shade rn! I was worried about the future of the company when China Glaze didn't put out a fall 2020 collection. So many businesses have become victims of Covid 19. I'm so happy to see them back, hopefully stronger than ever!! I had stopped buying this brand several years ago because of the brushes, which were not to my taste (too skinny, too soft, too long). But now I am being tempted again since they've switched out those brushes to what I hope will become an industry standard. I always admired that China Glaze has a variety of colors and finishes in their collections, while keeping the collection cohesive. Their collections feel more like what I expect from Indie companies. I can't wait to see what they put out for the holidays (I've seen photos online but I always wait for swatch/reviews)!

A ridge filling base coat would help with that! Most brands have one, so you should be able to find one at the drug store or Sally Beauty/Ulta.

China Glaze always seems to put out great holiday colors, last year they had a matte black as well and it was goopey as well. Not spectacular but they can be used , as you said, in many other times of year. Since Sally's, at least our local one, seems to have stopped carrying China Glaze, I'll have to hunt them down, there are a few keepers there. Thanks for swatching them!

I just tried China Glaze products and am impressed. The first one I bought was a glitter jelly in candy apple red. It covered in one coat but two gave the best “depth” of any I have tried previously. Have since been impressed with there other products in various shade and finish. The top coat is exceptionally good at giving that smooth wet look that lasts. Been loving your holo videos they are my personal favorite finish. Hugs🌺💐❤️

Hm very interesting! Payback is a witch reminds me a lot of Zoya Amy. China glaze did another mat black in a previous Halloween collection called Shadies & gentlemen. I bought Spill the Tea, Hex Boyfriend, and Covens and Caviar from CVS. Spill the Tea is a beautiful polish. Covens and Caviar was thick for me too. I felt like it might have been the matte. It dried faster then the others. Hex boyfriend I feel is beautiful glossy. The first time I wore it I waited for it to dry and threw on superchic glossy topcoat. I looked at them a few minutes later and it cracked all the way down through 2 coats to my nail. On all 5 of my nails. I haven't tried any other top coat. Maybe the polish wasn't as dry as I thought and the quick dry messed with the matte stuff.

Covens and caviar is my favorite, but everyone I have seen swatch this have said that it is very hard with which to work. Having a crystal ball super pretty with my skin tone, but I have things that look similar. So covens and caviar is the winner of this collection.
