How it works, they got a location, usually a rooftop. Your order gets pick by a human from the restaurant and is delivered to the closest launching area. They pack the order in the box and is given to a drone to deliver it. There are some office buildings with these machines nearby, you will see more users for those.

hi there i'm a shenzhener. 1st of all, i'm sry that those 2 girls didn't help, 1) they may not be able to communicate, 2) using someone's phone no. is actually a big deal here in china, as u may know our phone no.s connect to almost everything, like the 🆔s, household certificates, car plate no.s, driving license, bank accounts, etc., thus i hope that u could bare with us and understand why they didn't help, especially when communication is a prob, lending a phone no. could be very risky. i hope u still enjoyed ur staying here in my city. welcome.

The options of food delivered by drone is not totally limited by weight. Instead it is the distance from the launching site to the collection booth dictates. With more such kind of booths dotted around, there would be more options available and not only food but may be some small items such as clothing

You will feel even more novel if you experience Meituan's "takeout" and "errand" services. Their delivery speed is simply too fast. Next stop, I hope you can do this in the hotel, time it, and be amazed. Few foreigners do this test. If you can experience the "SF Express" sent from the other side of China, you will be amazed by the speed. Of course, this test is not rarely done by foreigners, and we Chinese people can basically enjoy this extremely fast experience without tips every day.

100% the main delivery service is by bikes or other vehicles but this is being rolled out currently and slowly becoming a more popular option. As for the bad weather I never actually considered that haha but it’s a very good point and I’m not sure of the answer

Simple, in bad weather, you can't place order. The drone delivery service won't risk loosing their costly drone for few Yuans. Weather report will warn of approaching bad weather, so why anyone wants to wonder in the park when typhoon hits?

I'm all for China, but this particular technology at this time, is silly. You're out and about in a city. Food is extremely easy to find quickly out and about in a city. Getting drone delivery to this specific box (and not a location of your choice), is not convenient at all.

@@EoinandAisling I'm local, you are okay to step on the grass in any of the park. as a people who lived in Shenzhen for more than 20 year, I never met the case said not allow to step into the grass. but not every park are allowed to use your own drone especially during the public holiday, if the drone has power outage, then it like a bomb. it would hurt the people.
